I think that Carl's comment has been misinterpreted. If one had checked out the definition of "wank tank" this would become obvious.

Quote:
wank tank

When you see someone hot, you put their memory in your wank tank so that when you have a wank later it is the face you see as you cum all over your bed
OR

Quote:
wank tank

Alternate term for sport utility vehicle or SUV. Any large, ugly, innefficient, fuel guzzling vehicle. An urban "tank" driven by an urban "wank"!
OR
Quote:
wank tank

Somebody who masturbates excessively. A cum production unit.

You dont need to read his posts, so dont comment, or why not ask him a question to make him clarify his position, instead of taking glee from the ensueing piss take.

Steve.
Not everytime. I just blank it most times. It is only very occasionally I actually rise to it when he spouts his obstreperous, unsubstantiated verbiage - which I agree is my own failing (it's the way I was dragged up). And you may note (with this thread as an exception, and I cleary stated that as I posted it) I usually do ask him to clarify things.

Trust me, my cheek and tongue are worn through ... but I don't wish him any ill at all. I'll whisper this, but some of his posts are actually good light-hearted fun.

Back on topic, I'm waiting to see the first pic of Peter wearing a tweed cap standing next to his new Jag

I'm not sticking up for Parkers or any other price guide but can you explain why a guide that seems to aim primarily at private sale values would be a laughing stock in the trade? Are the trade values in Parkers miles different to those in Glass's or what?
Because normally Parkers completely overvalue's the vehicle, give 'laypeople' a false interpretation of what their vehicle is actually worth. You may say this is salesman jargon, but in reality it is true. I know at the moment Glasses and Cap are also miles off the mark, and as I said in my earlier post, the best way to value you vehicle is look on the trader and see what they are actually going for.

And enjoy your new car Peter

Cheers Oli, I am collecting it on Sunday from down near you - Hindhead in Surrey, staying over with my brother near Arundel saturday night.

Looking on the Trader is what I did for the Jag, although I admit the market is probably different for much old cars in the banger/bargain basement class. I think condition and history is much more important in this area of the market. It still amazes me that some traders want nearly £4K for a car that can be had in a similar condition for £2K elsewhere. One dealer I spoke to said that his price of £3795 for an XJ6 was absolutely fixed, no negotiation.

"wank tank" is not a nice think to say seems all you care about is new and expensive cars, have fun in your 335d (mapped) Actually I know you will and that you enjoy your car, good on you, why can't you appreciate that others enjoy other types of motoring? I can be a bit forceful in my love for Classic Cars but I won't say ANYONES car is a "wank tank", that is someones pride and joy.

For 24 you really do act like a spoilt little boy. I think others will maybe agree on this point. As for me I like classic cars but can appreciate the modern ones too seems you don't appreciate anything that isn't new and isn't worth high amounts of cash. Good on you for buying a, what, £40K car (new), well done but hell don't we all know about it.

As much as you try to pretend you are a true Car Enthusiast, you are not, you are a driving enthusiast but funny how you judge others antics when you do more extreme stuff yourself! Double standards.

Call my cars shit but I'll be safe in the knowledge all I have and had I have achieved by myself, made some fuck ups along the way but that is life, we'll all agree.

I did not say "well built" I said MORE LUXURIOUS which it is any day of the week.

You are the same person who said to me, Swavesey (MGOC HQ) is a shit area because "there isn't all Astons and Bentleys" everything to you is about money and status, not everyone is so bloody shallow, my friend.

May I ask what planet your on? Shallow outlook on life? ME? I dont think so darling.

I left school went to college and went out to work in a decent Job earning decent money. Ive paid for everything i own. My 5k Model collection, my 335d, my fiesta turbo + all my other tut aswell as saving x-amount for a house deposit.

Cant see there where ive been spoilt? ive been fortunate to have good parents whove been able to look after me well, show me whats right and wrong and treat me to decent holidays growing up. Seen most of the world. Spent a stint living abroad. Seen and done lots. Appreciate what it takes to be successfull.

I love old and new cars, i really do... But hate MG's (my grandad had one and i didnt like it sorry) But i loved my fathers E-type he had. Now that was a great car, now you tell me i aint a car enthusiast. I love real cars. Cars built to be used, homologation specials and race cars. Im more of a car enthusiast than you ever will be.

You feel the need to buy the cars you buy to be apart of some ''Old skool car club'' cuz surely driving that midget cant be fun, or is it the attention a young girl gets from being in such a random car. Try a Pug 205 gti... far more fun i will garuntee you.

I mean surely you cant be happy driving that old thing when you have owned much better ''drivers cars'' which are more reliable less tiring to drive and look far more beautiful.

Peters car when new was lovely (still is but older), but still not my cup of tea. Accept that, and ill accept you like old sheds.

The MG midget is not a special car, it isnt a homologation special, it isnt a road going special. Its an old MG. Buy an e30 M3 or something if you want pedigree. Or even an Escort cosworth. Built to win the world championship (something Ford they couldnt do with it)

My car is special, only because its a ground breaking (well sort of) diesel performance coupe. But in the grand scheme of thing IT AINT that special... just a cooking 3 series which will be worth peanuts in 15 years.

But i enjoy it very much so its great to look at and performs well, Id place a bet you would even enjoy a e46 320d more in reality than you are enjoying your MG.

Being car enthusiast means that you appreciate a car for many different reasons, to name but a few looks, character, heritage, sound and rarity.........I wouldn't really associate any of these reason's as too why I bought my 335d, but can apply them to the MGB GT I owned about 16 years ago, they were the friend of the rust demons for sure, but it was also the first car I got my hands really dirty with (that great Marina Engine!!) and with it learned a great deal about basic mechanics and maintenance. We are all different and like similar things for different reasons.

Hope you two sort it out.

Peter, congrats on the purchase, as has been said a lot of car for the money, my old man loves his Jags and used to run one the same as yours. I've also owned a couple of Jags (old man's influence) back when I was in my early twenties (makes me sound really old but I am not!!) But these were both the XJ40 3.6's....slated by journalists which made them a bargain, loved them both and were a refreshing change for me in between sportier cars....

Jules.

Well you know I'm a big E-Type fan You more of a car enthusaiast than I will ever be - I doubt it, I really do for a start if you were so into cars you wouldn't have made that classic comment about you'd rather have you 335d than a Ferrari oh and some tosh about 911 (996)s you said on PH about them being dated and being "too old" or something, come on admit it they are more of a car than your 335d will ever be. Not that I think there is anything wrong with a 335d it is a very good car, very capable almost too much so, fun well you like it, just souless like most modern cars.

Wrong, have you drove an MG Midget? I don't think you would understand what is fun about them and other Classics even if you had.Just as I don't understand why SUCH a car enthusiast would want a Diesel Automatic BMW as his well not only car but the only car that he uses.

"Old Skool Car Club" - do I want to be part of it, yes most certainly! It's a great little scene with non judgemental people who appreciate their cars, they aren't rude or arrogant oh and it doesn't really matter what you drive. Car enthusiasts have such a bad name from little chavs in hatch backs and the boy racer scene when the real car enthusiasts are those with classics. Actually it's "old skool car club" meet tonight

Attention and Random Cars - If wanted attention I've drive something that screams "LOOK AT MEEEEEE!" though it is nice to have people ask you questions and tell you what a lovely car you've got, for other drivers especially older ones to wave or give you a smaile and a thumbs up.

Pug 205 GTi yep one of the all time greats, I'll agree just not my thing.

Yes I am very happy with my MG actually but do you really want to know what my favourite car has been, my 944 which was far from reliable, not really tiring to drive and not a beautiful car by any means. I've owned two reliable cars - E36 and E46 Coupes which will never appear as anything special nor did I try to make them out to be. Beautiful cars - I've owned a 911 and a Boxster S both beautiful but both I wouldn't pick over a nice 944 turbo if I could choose, know why because prestige doesn't matter to me - I buy what I like because I like it.

As said before I'm not too bothered about pedigree as for E30 M3s oh yes please

Want to remember that phrase when your banging on about your 335d being the best thing ever and how it out runs E36/46 M3s.

As for being special I see ANY classic MG as more special than your car. I also think it is very bad how you have treated your car the state of the paintwork after only one years worth of use, the constant burnouts and doughnuts, yeah we all do silly things from time to time but not all the time.

This is important bit you enjoy your car well shock horror I enjoy my MG and thats all that matters. E46 320d as said before diesel is not my thing I like to have a car that sounds reasonably nice, as a daily / winter car though a 320d would be a great motor

If you were such an enthusiast you wouldn't have let yourself get the 335d into the reputation of being a laughing stock in certain circles you would have left people to think "good, fast, diesel car, does it's job very well" not thinking of you everytime they see one and s******ing.

Oh come on since when has s.n.i.g.g.e.r.i.n.g been a bad word????!
