Thrust Arm Bushing and Stabilizer Link Leaks

When I took my car in for service, I was told that I had "thrust arm bushing" and "stabilizer link" leaks. From the research that I've done on e90post, the thrust arm= lower control arm and stabilizer link= sway bar link. Is that correct? If so, is this kit from ECS all that I need? I want to replace my lower control arms with M3 control arms. How much should I expect in labor costs?

Your control arm bushings can leak and it's a good excuse to upgrade to M3 arms but I don't know if it's adviseable to just get the upper arms; I would get the upper and lower together. As far as your sway bar end links, there isn't anything to "leak" as far as I know but they can wear out and I would replace them if your suspension has high miles....

Also, I would get the TRW branded arms rather than BMW branded, they are the same thing but for like half the price, ECS sells both versions........and check out Offset Motorwerks, they may have the lowest price

Doesn't the term "thrust arm" refer to the front control arm? Or can that mean rear as well?

Thanks buddy. I think I have the answers I need but if anyone else has any input, it's much appreciated.

The thrust arm (or tension strut) is actually the upper control arm. The lower control arm is known as the wishbone.

It's confusing because most sites, including ECS, list the tension strut as a lower control arm. Looks like I will have to go into the dealership again and have them give me exact part numbers.

Just saw that on the ECS site, they call both pieces the lower control arms-confusing. Turnermotorsports.com uses upper and lower arm descriptions. From under the car, it's pretty clear which is upper and lower.

Man-o-man, you guys got me confused.

>AHEM< -- Replacing both FRONT arms and sway with M3 is highly recommended!

Takes yer pick and click on the drawing for part names & numbers:

Do the same for M3 parts:

I was able to get confirmation today from the dealership. Both parts are in the front suspension. The "thrust arms" are actually the tension struts as someone mentioned above. The "stabilizer links" are sway bar end links.
