Yes, as I've pointed out, on the jacket of most books there are prices for Canada and USA. Even though a Canadian dollar is worth more than a US dollar, the Canadian price is still higher. Off the top of my head $43.50 Canadian for a $35 US book.

There is also what I call the San Francisco factor. Even if a 1-bedroom is fairly priced at $900k, not everyone can afford it. At some point there is downward pressure as demand falls. Demand is a willingness and ability to pay. If someone is willing, but not able, there is no demand. Same as a 50k car or BMW. It doesn't matter what the exchange rate does, most people cannot afford 50k, let alone having it adjusted to 67k due to the dollar losing 34% of its value. If BMW wants to sell cars, to Americans, they must factor in that most are overextended as it is and need to resort to leasing. They will not even lease a 335 for 67k no matter how desparate. Other countries will gladly pay 67k for a 335, because they do have the coyne.

Oh, the value of the USD again... The dollar is so weak, yet we continue to buy BMW's and everything else for that matter cheaper than most other countries. As a country, we have higher average incomes, lower income taxes while paying lower sales taxes. What else is there? Well, our country makes it easier to do business here than many countries. What else? There are many consumers buying products here and if BMW wants to make more sales, they must price competatively... Period. Does the exchange rate have directly influence pricing?? Not so much...

Wouldn't it be cheaper to get an east coast car and ship it in?

You can get a nice discount on the east coast on any of the 335 cars. If you are paying almost 3K ADM, I am sure you could get a car to you for a lot less even after paying freight charges.

I bought my 335 convertible (almost 60K sticker) for about 57K.

e92 pricing is a double edge sword:
- Here in LA, you could only get $1000-$1500 off MSRP. Which is mind boggling with so many BMW dealers in the area.

- Yet at the same time; e92's are ridiculously so expensive that you hardly see them on the road. E92's are more exclusive than the 5 series IMO.

that is true, but i don't consider mildly optioned 335xi an entry level 3 series. what i had in mind was a stock E90 328i.

OMG! now that is plain absurd. i wanna go to the dealer and tell them, keep dreaming.

a nicely optioned E93 335 can easily cost $60k+. with $15k markup, you get to $75-$80k, which touches base M5, way overshoots 550i and is up par with 650i (even convertible).

Additional dealer markup is absurd especially in today's economy especially for a non exclusive car. I have a very good connection with the sales manager at Bmw of Mtn. View. I'm confident he would work a below sticker price for any 3series of your choice. If you or anyone else is interested in the bay area, shoot me a pm.

more exclusive then a 5 series? what are you talking about man haha? The E92 has only been out for about a year now......the E60 5 series has been out for many years now. That probably explains why you see a few more 5'ers then 3'ers........thats for now at least.

exclusive or not, it's still not a ferrari or aston martin. $15k mark-up on an M6 or a $5k mark-up on a 335i is absolutely ridiculous.

LOL $4999 Mkt Adjustment on the Platinum Bronze e93-35 that I test drove.

They took the Mulroney sticker off too and only had the little market adjustment price tag left on the windshield.

+1

I guess it's all business. They can make anything look exclusive if they want to. Just hope no one will fall into that trap.
