Seat Butler Fault

It's the usual one where the drivers side seat butler doesn't hand over, the end feels a bit wobbly, but is the same when compared to the other side, it just seems the seatbelt is folding itself around the arm.

I've tried ironing it and using starch, neither of which worked, and sure fire options to fix this?

Think there are various parts for this - not sure if you have warranty or not?

Mine plays up loads and they have had it twice (when its been in for other stuff) replaced some parts without success and now know what additional parts are needed but it will have to wait until it is next in...

Ive had the same issue, ironed the seatbelt and still no luck, the mechanism is spring loaded and on mine I believe this has broken, think the only fix is a new mechanism, i'm due a service soon so intend to find out then.

Are you being sarcastic A_P? You could buy a coupe and find out

All it does is push the seatbelt within closer reach, rather than having to reach right back to the door pillar.

Sorry mate, I never know when you're being serious or not

E46 got the plastic (static) arm. 2 door E92 got the butler

I'm pretty sure it's only an e92 thing, haven't the verts got the seatbelt in the seat?

I did buy the part to repair it, but I couldn't remove the end bit..... none of which sounds right! Hopefully someone who's done it will know and be able to help

I didn't know if it was faulty, or the belt is buggered?

What i done was when the arm extends out pull the fuse so the arm stays out allowing you to work on it. With the arm out Part 1 will come away from part 2. On the attached image there is a we clip which you push in and the two seperate. Its a five minute job. Hope this helps.

My belt butler and belt got replaced under extended warranty (had less than 30k miles even though 07 plate so I challenged their first attempt to say it was wear and tear).

But before that even without that challenge they fitted on both sides some 2.5 " long plastic sleeves custom fitted over the back of the rail in the foot well to bring the starting position forward. I mention that because it suggests that there's a known design flaw.

It didn't work for me which is why the belt and butler got replaced. (Only one might have been required but I was advised both done as excess is per claim not per problem)

Chris
