Those who Bought Dunlop Winter Sport 3D

Just so people know, if you did not already know.

If you bought Dunlop Winter Sport 3D as part of your winter setup, those tires have been discontinued by Dunlop. Part of the reason they were offering a good deal on them last fall

I found out the hard way two weeks back when a pot hole at night took out my front tire. It took a local Dunlop reseller 3 or 4 days to locate a replacement.

Lucky we did not have any bad weather and I was able to put on my summer tires while they tried to find a replacement. needless to say it was a lower speed rating which I did not care since I am not going to drive 140MPH during the winter.

I thought they just released these. Why are they discontinued?

Not sure, the local Dealer claims the 3M replaces 3D and said that he had no problem finding a 3M but those are different tread pattern so that would not work.

I even call edthe Tirerack to see if they had any and they said nearly the same thing, well actually they did not have anymore nor would they get anymore.

I thought that it was the other way around!?! M3 older than 3D.

Now that you said that, and I looked at Dunlop site and your correct the 3D is new and the 3M is showing as older. So maybe they did such a good marketing program on the 3D they sold out.

Not sure why they would tell me it was discontinued, unless they thought they could sell me 4 new tires.

I can tell those tires handle very well, I was impressed how well the car handles in both the snow and dry weather. I also impress the road noise did not get worse, you would expect the road noise to get worse with a more aggressive tread.

Your tire shop is wrong. They are NOT discontinued. Your tire shop either 1) wanted you to buy new tires or (more likely) 2) all 3D's were sold out for the season so they could not get a replacement tire in.

I had 235s. Were fantastic in the snow. Wore out with my aggressive driving in the dry though
