I did ask jason before, what colour his sws cone was and he said black, which to me says they were sws-8x's.

I would like to know how many others have had this problem with his last batch of spacers, as i assume only sws-8x's are available from most retailers.

I didn't realize there were white cone SWS-8 speakers. If you go to this site which sells both the X and XI, you'll see both speakers are all black. The XI's box is white though. It would seem weird though for them to make the sub's dimensions slightly different, just because it's a 2 ohm vs. a 4 ohm?

You can see pics of both here (I assume they didn't use the 4 ohm speaker pics for both the 2 and the 4 versions, as they have put up the correct pictures of each of their boxes):

EDIT: Wierd, I found this post on here from April 2008, where the guy seems to have had the white SWS cone speakers:

Jason, around when did you develop your template?

It seems that there are two color types of cones out there from what I've seen and reading above (not an expert myself, just poked around the net a bit as I was curious before putting in my order with you). There's white cone and black ones, and the poster above was saying maybe there's a difference between them and if you've designed your spacers based on one set, maybe that's the reason why his spacers didn't fit his subs perfectly.

What you said and a poster said you've said is that you've designed the spacers for the original SWS-8X (4 ohm) subs and that they were black in color.

It hasn't been proven yet/clear if the 4 ohm vs. the 2 ohm subs are different in dimensions (and therefore whether your spacers need some dremeling) or if the white cone subs vs. the black cone ones are different. I'm guessing the white cone SWS's were the older variety.

Here's the pics I've found of both cone colors:

Interesting. Thanks for the details!

And yes, the spacers were most definitely designed for the black coned SWS-8X. I honestly can't speak one way or another on the white coned ones, but that could make sense.

Thanks again!

Hi Jason,
I got my sws-8x subs today so wanted to find out if your spacers will go together with them. On the hole cut out diagram for my subs the drawing says 206mm. Can you confirm the internal diameter of your spacers.

Thanks

got my spacers and they look great! Thanks for the fast shipping as well. Next, Ive just got to pick up some of the SWS subs to upgrade my lows in my car. Anybody know where the best place to get them would be and should i go with 2 ohm or 4ohm?

Any chance you will make a SWS-8xi version? I think most would be very interested in that.

Right now I only have a jig made up for the 8X, but would definitely entertain the idea of building one for the XI, if more people showed interest.

Hey Jason - spacers showed up on Saturday. Quality looks great. Don't have the speakers yet (should be here this week), will post comments after install.

What size screws did you have to use for the consideration of the spacers?

sweet items

well finally got my subs. I ordered the spacers 3 days after the subs and the spacers got here 5 days before the subs.

well, I am really impressed. They fit exactly and the spacers are of super thickness and quality. No flimsy plastic here. This thing is thick.

The installers at Best Buy looked at them and like them as well. It helped cut down my cost of installation, they want to charge me more for custom install. I went from $400 to $220 for subs and amp install with 3 year gaurantee.

if I ever got another bmw, i hope he still makes them then. I would highly recommend it.
