i need ur opinions. its pretty deep its at around 6 decibals, my muffler shop claims it will get 9% louder, but if i take off the resonator it will be around 8, but wud it be deeper?

decibels are a measure of loudness not tone
if your car was only making 6 dB of noise, you would not be able to hear it I suspect you mean 6 and 8 bels, (60, 80 dB) 8 bels is 4 times louder than 6, not 9% (it's a logarithmic scale, like the richter scale) |

At the end, it's up to you. I can't decide for you because I don't know how loud your car is.
My last car was an Evo with a full turboback...for sure the exhaust I had was illegal, you can hear me coming from a mile away, the interior was constantly drowning at all RPM...everytime you drive there would be loud sound with deep vibration. It gets old after a while. You may want to get some giggles out of setting off car alarms for the first few days, but it gets to you sooner or later. |

This was my exhaust before I even got my hi flow cat and downpipe...I thought it was cool at first to 'unleash' the beast with the sound. But I honestly got tired after a while.

i've heard a fellow member's car with an ikon and a deleted resonator. It definitely drones at lower RPM. Personally it's a little too loud for my taste. When i had my ikon installed, i decided to not delete the resonator and i'm glad i didn't. It's perfect inside the cabin, while people who've heard it outside say it's has a nice throatier tone, but not over obnoxious.
BTW - give it some time, your exhaust will get a little louder once the muffler has broken in. If you still want to delete the resonator, wait until you've put a few hundred miles on the car first. |
