ICBC Penalty Points for U.S. Speeding Ticket???

I was just pulled over about an hour ago for going 88mph on a 60 zone in Seattle. $247. I have no problem paying it, deserved every bit of it. However, will this add to my ICBC penalty points? I would assume that the DPP system is regulated only under B.C. legislation so if the offence was committed outside of B.C. the system would not apply. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Just a heads up for anyone taking the i5 anytime soon, I must have come across at the very least 8 cars getting pulled over over a period of 2 hours. Mine would make the 9th.

UPDATE 08/08/2013: CONFIRMED ICBC PENALTY POINTS ARE NOT ADDED IN THIS SITUATION

What were you thinking? Eight cars pulled over and you continued to speed! I believe that the US state will send details to BC as they do in the Ontario/ US states region.

Most provinces/states transfer violations.

Quebec does with Vermont/New York.

My understanding is that they do not. I got my very first speeding ticket in Washington state, came back to bc, paid it off, and that was the end of it. I even know some people that dont pay it off. But I heard if your get caught in states again without having paid off your speeding ticket, they can arrest you. Don't take my word for it though.

True for some states. You cannot drive there anymore if you have never paid the ticket.

Yes you don't want to get caught with unpaid infractions. State troopers aren't always very friendly, and will lock you if you can't pay pretty much on the spot!

Unless you are a serial re-offender I dont think the points being deducted matters. As far as swapping information, I believe they do so because both BC and Washington state DMV departments work hand in hand because of the enhanced drivers licence programs that are here.

The answer to your question is "No" plain and simple. but you have to pay that ticket co'z if you get caught again with outstanding traffic unpaid violations in that county they can take you to jail.

Suggest to contest it as the court will reduce the fine and likely the charge as well.
