Apex ARC-8 or EC-7

Diesel guys, I am agonizing over whether to buy the Race Silver EC-7 18x9 wheels or the Hyper Silver ARC-8 18x8.5 wheels, same on all four corners. Space Grey D. No bling. "Beauty is more than skin deep"

Ec7s are prettier
Arc8s are lighter and a bit more of a raw look. I feel they better suit your sleeper motif and therefore they get my vote.

Good luck with your decision, old man!

Go with the wider wheel/tire combo you can fit at all four corners especially with that suspension.
Hope you're getting PSS or better tires

I'd personally go with a darker colour such as gunmetal over the silver. Even more stealth and I feel they'd look better on your SG colour.

I went with the Apex Arc 8's in hyper black. But they're 17x9's, not the 18's you are looking at.

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...59&postcount=8

Saved a huge amount of weight over the OEM summer setup. They have been great wheels.

Opinions vary so much. Originally I was also for a darker color, like Anthracite in these, but for me it would look like a younger, cooler guy's car then, not an older chap in his dotage. Plus my bride sorta favors the silver.

I was actually going to mention the middle-of-the-ground anthracite, but I've never seen it in person, and I'm not sure how it would look with dFan's gray ride. Whatever we do, though, let's give him fewer choices rather than more. We've got to get the summers on and get this beast back on the track so we can see/hear the results of dFan's hard work.

Poor dFan come to us for a tie-breaker and we give him a 6-6 vote and two more options to consider

Well, I was looking for some opinions, which is what you get with a forum. The poll is just for fun. A couple of the hard core suspension guys I have sent PMs out to as well. It is interesting that it is currently a dead heat at 7-7. Didn't break clearly one way or another.

Very true FR.

335dFan, there is no such thing as "too old" man. Do whatever YOU like!

The bride? Maybe if you're buying furniture. It's YOUR car.

I think the lovely bride deserves some input after thumbs upping all of the other mods

I hear you, dFan. What sort of responses are you getting from the suspension gurus? Are the silver RGRs still in consideration or are you figuring this is where you will try to realize some "savings"?

I'd be interested to here more about WHY the folks who are voting are voting in one direction or another. DFan, are you leaning in any particular direction ATM?

Silver imo. Easiest to paint match/repair if you curb the wheels

1. Those two wheels at those sizes and colors are the only ones in consideration. BBS would be nice but I have to draw the line somewhere. I looked at my retirement funds this AM.

2. One guru has responded. Said he would do staggered especially with my rear M3 sway, but then acked that I am staying square. Said I should go as meaty as I can fit. Thinks 245/40-18 might be too tall. Suggested the EC-7 with 255/35-18 all the way around. Suggested I call Eddy at Apex. But then told me to take my time with this decision.

3. If I were forced to choose right now, I would go with the ARC-8. But I am still weighing. But got to stop weighing by sometime before COB tomorrow.

In my father's time, we would be called hen-pecked. In my earlier years, we would be called PW'd. But all that is usually macho talk that is conducted when the guys are together teasing each other and the fraus are not around.

You are correct. (The former)

P.S. I don't think you'd be able to do "40" in the rear.

Interesting. I think VAC thinks the 245/40-18 in the front is the problem, especially with the ARC-8, but I could have misunderstood him. He didn't seem worried about 235/40-18 at any corner at all for either wheel. Why do you think that?
