Clunking over bumps w/KW and GC?

To all who've installed KW c/o suspension and/or GC camber plates:
I had KW street comforts and GC street camber plates installed a few weeks ago and all was well until my ride home from a road trip yesterday. I did hit a lot of potholes and bumps yesterday at high speed, I-680, and by the time I got home my car sounded like a bucket of bolts going over even small bumps at low speed I'm due for an adjustment and an alignment this week but am afraid the car is unsafe to drive on the highway and the installer is about 40 miles away?
Any ideas or suggestions I can diy just to make the car safe to get to the installer?

Your best bet is to jack up your car and check for all the suspension nut's and bolts to make sure they are there and tight. I had a similar problem right after I installed my KW too and I could not locate what's making that clacking noise, I pulled out the whole front suspension and disassembled it and reassemble. After that it was all good!

Where are you in the Bay?

+1 check nuts & bolts. I had some clunking before and it turned out to be the front sway bar end-links; they're relatively simple to access and torque down.

The other common cause is the strut top mount bolts.

Thanks Charles. I checked the strut top mounts cuz I can access them and they're secure. The clunking is on the driver's side and it sounds like front and rear. Think it's safe to drive 40 miles on a crappy hwy?

You're not going to die, trust me there are other cars out there with more sketchier suspension! Drive and get it fixed!

You're welcome. I think you'll be fine as noted - if something was truly wrong I'd think the car would show odd handling characteristics.

Your sig looks like a new picture w/a lowered suspension
Until my car became a bucket of bolts, I was digging this new susp on hwy 1; much flatter up front with vastly improved ride quality

The clunking turned out to be unrelated to the KW susp or GC camber plates. The front lower control arm (wishbone link) came loose where it bolts to the front subframe thanks to the shitty roads in this State
fwiw, the KW's do make a little more noise than oe susp.

I was about to say the control arms if you didn't figure it out because mine had that noise before. Also worn out control arm bushings can cause this sound and crappy ride comfort.

Wow! Those are some roads.

I'm glad to hear you're happy with the KW SC's. I have come to really value ride comfort in my cars, on street and track. Some tracks I recently went on were not smooth at all ...the "stiff ride is good on the track" argument is wrong.

I did and made sure all bolts are snug. Everything feels great! Love the additional neg camber. Just got back from a trip up the coast on hwy 1 and can't believe how much better the car handles with improved ride quality Only complaint is the coilovers do make an occasional odd sound; would probably be better if KW included thrust sheets in their kits like HPA does.
