You'd really need to go some to get up to £50k+. At that price you'd be looking at options like Audi exclusive colours and leather.

The only thing really missing as standard in my opinion is the bucket seats which would put the price just over £40K.

ARGH!

Read my previous post for the correction.... It was £42k - I had assumed (wrongly) that it would be over 50...

AutoCar get the slowest acceleration times I've read for most of their tests.

For the RS3 they got 4.5s 0-60 & 11.2s 0-100 & for the 1M they got 4.6s & 11.3s so it doesn't seem to drop off too drastically. So it's only slow if a 1M is slow.

It happens more often than you think but get very little attention or discussion (especially on BMW boards )

RS3 vs 1M in two tests where the RS3 comes out on top. It's never going to match a 1M on driver involvement due to it's weight and DSG transmission but as an overall package it is very compelling.

Youve got to order a set of Milltek cat replacement pipes

Added a set today, and it certainly helps a tad with a deeper exhaust note.

I also found Launch control

Which im sure youve used in your TTRS

I've used Launch Control in my Golf - but I bet it is less effective with 360bhp through the front wheels lol!!! In fact, it nearly kills me evertime!

Topgear tested 3.8/9.9 so that would give the RS3 a 60-100 of 6.1. Not sure on the figures of a mapped 335d, probably 5secs/12secs so 7secs 60-100?

RS3 is not full 4wd, it runs fwd until slip is detected which gives the best of both worlds, excellent traction but with minimal losses and hence the reason they are so quick. The new generation Haldex systems are very clever bits of kit. 15% loss which is pretty much the same as any FWD car..

Personally, I am not a fan of the RS3, very quick and practical yes but I cant seem to get on with it for some reason. 5 doors and end of line model being my biggest grievances.

Mapped 335d late 4's 0-60 and low 11's to the ton. So low 6's 60-100.

What's the reasoning behind running mostly fwd and not rwd?

The engine of the year award part, the N54 BMW engine won international engine of the.year twice but that list only has it for 2007.

Is there different international engine of the year awards?

The Audi engine does sound amazing though. Does seem wrong to have an odd amount of cylinders though!

Some really odd engines in those charts. Some I've driven and can't say I was impressed.

Edit. I see now. Best New engine one year and best 2.5 to 3.0 the next and international engine of the year twice.

I'm skimming through it too fast as busy.

Bmw seem to have won quite a few awards for many of their engines.

Just received this photo of the original RS3 I ordered in January from Bath Audi.

I sold my order about 7 weeks ago as I was sick of waiting, and bought the Ibis one instead. All in all I've saved and made money, but there's no getting away from it that's thus is one great looking car

That does look stunning-makes the car look a little bit special,as an RS vehicle should.

That's a lovely colour and I like the front end.

I honestly can't see an arguement that the rear of the car is not pot ugly though.
