I dont think speedfreak! had anything to do with this. Note how the admins haven't banned him. They obviously have read the PM's between Tine and SF!. just my 2 cents

I join in to experss my anger with Tine & SpeedFreak's plot.

Honestly,I wouldn't ban either one for this. All Tine has said was that they provided misleading information to increase the amount of views in this thread. Hell, most of the people that posted provided misleading speculation so the only thing that's different, IMO, is that they both stated they had "their" sources. If people are gullible enough to believe that as the truth, so be it. I think most are upset by the fact this "punked" email was started, which is kind of a slap in the face. These guys will suffer enough from this point on without having to be banned. As I stated in my other posts, I am inclined to believe you. However the best thing for you to do is to sit back and whether the storm, once you have stated the facts it is unlikely anything you do or say will change peoples minds in your favor.

It's been rather obvious that two camps formed early on... those who were in favor of my participation and those who were not... I see little difference now.

Well, back to the issue at hand, I'm really upset that something like this has happened. I came here to research the E90 before I bought it...which is what probably what 95% of our community does. Buying a brand new BMW is a very big investment, and with such stiff competition, it can be easy to steer over to Infinity, Acura, Lexus, etc.

People here are arguing that no one should ever believe what you hear on Internet forums, but this just isn't true. Practically EVERYTHING I know about my car, I've learned from this forum.

When my car was on order last March, I read here first that you need to put your foot on the brake first before you push the start engine button. I learned from here that you need a slotted motion sensor in order for the optional alarm to work properly, which the service department didn't even know.

It just absolutely disgusts me that someone would post false information here just to get their kicks. It's one thing to talk about a rumor, and another to flat out lie. Sure you can say "take what you read on the Internet with a grain of salt" but this is the world we live in. We use the Internet for everything in our lives, and by doing so, we are able to learn more about the car than the dealers themselves.

All I'm going to say is that people sometimes make life-changing decisions based on what they read here. Yes with common sense and actually speaking with a variety of sources before making a final decision is the best and smartest way to go, but up until this point, this site has been 100%.

Maybe some of us aren't fortunate enough to know people who are really up to date with BMW. And even the dealers rarely have their customers' best interests at heart, so we come here. It utterly disgusts me that someone would make up such a lie just for kicks. I mean we're talking about $30,000-40,000 here. That's a pretty expensive lie if someone depended on this information to make a decision.

Maybe what I'm saying isn't even the real issue. Maybe it isn't even that big of a deal. But now there is more confusion than there needs to be. Are we still getting the 328/335 to replace our current models?

Maybe it's not that big of a deal and the poster was actually really in trouble and just tried to cover his ass, but I truly hope this is a lesson and sets a precedent if any moron out there wants to screw around like this just for fun. Very disappointing.
