This is from the sticky somewhere. I copied it to Word and saved it as a file so I would loose it. Works perfect.

Guys I looked everywhere (maybee not hard enough ) for a DIY service reset for E90 but couldn`t find one. So decided to try the E60 DIY which wasn`t too far off. I realise most cars are still under warranty but I will use this to replace my own brake pads and microfilter instead of being fleeced by the $tealers.

Step 1
Insert key into slot
Step 2
Press start/stop button without depressing clutch/brake and wait for the service reminder to dissapear.
Step 3
Immediately after service reminder goes out, press and hold the odometer reset. After 3 secs a warning triangle will appear, keep the odo. button pressed and after another 2-3 secs the Oil can will appear. I f you hold it too long (10 secs in total) you will overshoot the runway and some German writing will appear giving the software level/ can bus etc. of the car. Go back to the beginning and start again.
Step 4
You are now in the service menu, use the toggle switch on indicator stalk to scroll up/down through the various service items.
Step 5
When you have the item you want to reset showing, press the BC button on end of indicator stalk. Reset should now appear in the display. Press in and hold the BC button for 2-3 secs and a clock will start whirling around and hey presto, its done
Step 6
You can now either scroll up/down to select another item (as in step 4) or you can press the start/stop button to exit.

Sorry if this a re-post guys but like I said I couldn`t find it anywhere.
I accept no responsibility if you break your car, this is done at your own risk.

Some people have their cars longer than 4 years and others drive more than a few thousand each year. The reason I own a BMW is because I like to drive it and I also like to do what I can on it for myself. And don't worry, I way out of my free services so I like to know these things. I drive about 22k a year

Just reset my service indicator for my 2008 328i, and as with the other owner, I like driving, I'm at 75000, and doing my own oil and brake changes. so it's nice to be able to reset the service indicators manually. The procedure noted above worked perfect. However the BRAKE light stays on because I need to replace the brake sensor, which was damaged.

I'll try to make this more clear
  • Get in car
  • Place key/fob into car
  • Press Start Once (dont touch the brakes or anything else)
  • Wait for the beeping to stop and service light to go out
  • Press and hold down the brake pedal
  • Press and hold down the odometer reset button (its just to the left of your speedo on the plastic/glass not the 'handle' thing you would normally use, you use that below)
  • Release both once you see the service options show (just after the yellow triangle)
  • Use the up arrow you normally would on the switch/handle that you normally use to navigate your serivce options
  • Press in on the switch when you get to oil and it should show '>Reset?'
  • Press in on the switch again (I held it down)
  • Your oil service should be reset

Just did this. Overshot and got the software version the first time, but just cleared my oil change and vehicle check services on my 13 e92 M3 (looks like the dealer forgot to reset them) on the second try. Thanks for posting this and updating for the rest of us!

Banana - I did what you said and it resets, but it now says it is due in 3600 miles on 10/16. Is there any way to modify that or do I just reset it again when it gets there? I use Mobil 1 Synthetic and change every 5k miles...thanks - MB
