Ok... I got a little gunshy, and the picture with everything wired is not very clear...

I have cut the wires on the plugs, and stripped them so they are ready for my quick connects... I was trying to figure out how it is going to be wired, and I see many options... So here is my interpretation... plase comment on it...

1 - red wire from the console needs to be cut. It will then be joined with one of the red cables. The other red cable will then be connected to the other end of the red wire from the console. This will create one continuous loop of red wire.

2 - brown wire from console needs to be cut, and secured in the exact same fashion as the reds were... One continuous loop...

Please correct me if I am wrong...

if you can, comment on my previous post... I would like to hear what has been done before I cut existing wires in the console...

AJ...

First of all, no stripping is required. The connectors bite into the wires and conductivity is established.

Ok, first cut the plug from the new panel piece. Cut 1 end of the red shorter than the other. Bridge the two reds where the shorter end, ends. Bridge the long end to the live wire. Repeat for the brown. So altogether you need 4 connectors. Did that make sense?

Thats actually what I did... Its almost as if there are two piggy back wirings (per color).

now I dont have any power going to those outlets... I do to the main one in the console...

Im stumped... I guess Ill take it apart tomorrow to take a look at it... Atleast the armrest install went well today...

Yep, we had to clamp them down with pliers....it was hard work. That might be it. The teeth has to completely bite down to secure the connections/conductivity. That might be it, go through all the connectors once again...

AJ,
As my aprentice stated, the quick connects are probably the problem.
We had a tough time getting them to work.
we use pliers and ended up wrapping them with electric tape.

Are you getting the sun glasses tray?
If so, you might want to consider using the cigarrete lighter power
source for your robot. just an idea.

I had to use pliers to get them to fit, so I will try pushing a little harder on the connect bridge.

I use the outlet up front for my radar detector, so I cant lose that as a power source. I have a hard time hardwiring it in when its illegal in VA, and I only use it on highway trips...

Very cool. Always had trouble with the fact that my car only has one DC outlet (removed the forward ashtray to make room for sunglasses holder). Just placed my order. Although, I have a question: in the picture the OP shows, that cord that you cut the head off of has four wires and from what I understand you only connect two of them to the new part, right? So the other two wires (looks like two orange ones) just dangle or something? Thought I'd ask so to make sure I don't short something because the two wires weren't connected up to anything when the juice was powered up.

bmwexecutive: from the new panel, there are 2 cables of each color connecting to the plug. When you cut off the plug, you end up with 4 cables (again, 2 of each color). You'd need to 'bridge' the two like color cables together via the connectors. After you've bridge the two, you'd need to bridge that onto the corresponding live cable.
