335is DCT rough acceleration

My 2011 335is with 7000km has developed this weird issue when accelerating. What happens is when I'm cruising in let say 6th or 7th gear at arnd 1500rpm n accelerate hard, the car starts shuddering? I'm not sure if that's the right word to describe the feeling. I guess it's like a very slight jerking n buckin all the way to past 2000rpmish. It only happens under load while in high gear, I definitely don't think it's the clutch slipping although I won't rule that out, but I mostly suspect it's the engine. The car has no mods at all n it only started happening in the past 1000km or so.

So does anyone have any insites before I bring it to my dealer to take a look at?

Thanks

this used to happen on my 335i....it got so bad i ended up trading it in....i changed plugs, coils, seafoamed it twice, and even hand cleaned the intake valves, and they changed the fuel pump.....nothing made it go away. bmw wanted to charge me $500 to do a leakdown test....let us know how they fix it....thx

If your in 6 or 7 gears in very low RPMs while applying too much throttle.

Nothing wrong with the HPFP , its just your driving and knowing what your car doesn't like.

Stay out of 6 and 7 gears below 2k RPMs while trying to WOT, too much throttle or too sudden of throttle being applied

I'm having a very similar problem as well. Think it's the HPFP

The car has more than enough torque to accelerate at that rpm. If what ur says is me purposely boggin the car, then y didnt it downshift itself. If it was just bogging, the car would've just shake n vibrate, but my scenario, the car also jerks.

I can replicate this problem even in 3 4 5th gears, it's jut most noticeable in 6th n 7th.

Because the nature of our DCT is like a MT when driving in M mode. It has well long adapted to your style of driving so it will not downshift.

You are treating this car on the same level as a AT rather than an MT.

Your driving the car in too low of RPMs or the gears. If you were in a sole MT car it would do the same thing.

Have you ever owned a MT car before ?

Yes I have owned mt cars before, n no this is definitely not the same as purposely boggin the engine. The difference is u can feel the car jerk n buck in that 500rpm. If it was due to me purposely bogging the car down, then the car shouldnt jerk n buck in 2 3 gear too as those gears r definitely short enough to accelerate from 1500rpm.

I find the same, and learnt the car doesnt like it. Nothing wrong with your machine. Just stay away from RPMs under 2k, and keep the car happy with what it wants.

My car has the same shudder. Were you able to diagnose the issue?

+1 I noticed the DCT like to always be in the proper gear when driven aggressively or when trying to pass.

Are you guys nuts! There is, in NO WAY NORMAL for the car to do that WHATSOEVER. 1500pm isnt 500rpm guys and your driving a $50,000+ car!!! You def have a problem in my personal opinion and would take it to the shop ASAP to resolve the issue...Maybe a fuel pump problem or maybe something motor (injectors, coils, ect...) If the OP was "lugging" the motor then it would have to be wayyy lower in the rpm range than that.

Do you own a 335iS DCT ? nough said, you don't have the slightest clue of what's going on.

+1

Cars of varying types generally shudder like that when you're not making enough power to propel it forward. But "cruising around" at 1500rpms is fine, but gunning it and expecting a response is pretty silly. Downshift your car like a normal person. FWIW the DCT runs a 2.56 rear end, meaning less torque multiplication in the higher gears.

If it does the same thing at 1500rpms in 2nd or 3rd gear, that may be something different.

Thats arrogant a car is a car and this motor has enough tq at 1500 rpm that it shouldnt be a problem my AT car at 1500 in m mode will get moving very smoothly and ive ridden in mt 335 that will pull very nice at low rpms

If the dealer cant find a problem i would ditch the car

Your AT is NOT a DCT. The DME is different, tuned different, gearing is different, timing is different

It does it in mine and many other DCT 335iS owners. It is perfectly normal. He is in SIXTH or SEVENTH GEAR, cruising at 1500 RPMs and then decides to WOT the engine will shudder as though it is not being fed enough fuel.

Transmission has nothing to do with the tune, a transmission will not cause it to jerk etc

In can understand if he was expecting it to roll out like he was in third gear, but it sounds like an issue that I wouldn't let bmw.get away with
