Well in USA the E46 M3 had SMG 1 that was a 6-speed single clutch sequential manual gear box. The E60 M5 and E63 M6 came in with the second version called SMG II 7-speed single clutch sequential manual gear box. Now we have E92 M3 with Dual clutch sequential manual gear box.

Well just finished reading the Evo magazines article on the updated 2011 Lexus IS-F vs 2011 M3 competition vs 2011 Audi RS5 vs 2011 MB C63 AMG performance package plus.
It is amazing to see that the M3 competition is still the champ in overall as well as on track performance in their opinion. The Audi RS5 was last in that comparison but on track was able to barely out do their long term M3 comp. pkg that had worn out brakes due to many previous hard drives. They suspected that if the M3 comp. pkg brakes were in same condition as others it would have easily beaten the RS5 by a good margin. The IS-F is much improved due to suspension upgrades and LSD. But still lagged behind in track times compared to the updated M3 comp. pkg and RS6. However, it still out did the more powerful C63 AMG performance pkg. plus. To me the acceleration times for M3 comp. pkg were amazing as EVO mag. in past had recorded very similar numbers from the regular C63 AMG. To some extent now in my mind that rumor sticks out more that the BMW might have secretly improved the M3 acceleration. As even Car&Driver reported 0-60mph 3.9 sec. This is the same number Car and Driver had previously recorded for for the regular C63 AMG. The C63 AMG performance pkg plus has at least 30hp more as well as other improvements. So it has to be faster the the regular C63 AMG. Anyways here are the acceleration numbers from the EVO mag for everyone enjoy. Audi RS5: 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds BMW M3 Competition: 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds Lexus ISF: 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG: 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds Audi RS5: 0-100 mph in 10.6 seconds BMW M3 Competition: 0-100 mph in 10.3 seconds Lexus ISF: 0-100 mph in 10.9 seconds Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG: 0-100 mph in 9.7 seconds Audi RS5: 0-140 mph in 23.6 seconds BMW M3 Competition: 0-140 mph in 22 seconds Lexus ISF: 0-140 mph in 23.6 seconds Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG: 0-140 mph in 19.1 seconds Audi RS5: 100-0 in 4.2 seconds/285 feet BMW M3 Competition: 100-0 in 4.3 seconds/300 feet Lexus ISF: 100-0 in 4.4 seconds Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG: 100-0 in 4.5 seconds/321 feet

Something i noticed there was a 3 second difference between the 06 z06 time and the 07 z06 time. There shouldnt have been that big of a difference (although i think they did maybe make some suspension tweaks for 08 and a tranny change). Also wish there were MY's on the list. You could see when the test was done but hard to tell what year car they used. All in all though great to see some comparision numbers.

The Z06 tested in 07 was much more composed and a improved version due to the revised shocks/suspension upgrades over the 06 one. That was a well known improvement by Chevy that allowed greater speed/braking ability in and out of the corners. You can go back and read the differences in their article.

I'm actually surprised by the 335 turning faster times than the previous IS-F. My IS-F feels tighter in the turns and faster on the straights then my map 7 JB3 335xi. Granted the awd adds some weight but I don't think the rwd and less weight would make that much of a difference but apparently it does. Butt dyno says the original is-f test was poorly driven. My 2 cents of inflated U.S. Currency!
