Anyone want to help out a n00b?
whats up everyone i'm vance and i currently drive a rx8
but the car has proven to be to impractical for college life so think its time to move on as of right now i am working on a deal for an 06 325i with 60k mi. on the ODO. i have done some searching around and i have found a few recalls that need to be done on this car but the time is running short and i'm still wondering if there are really any common problems with these cars...things that like to go out or break....stuff like that... i will not be going with a 3rd party extended warranty so i want to be somewhat prepared... thanks for the help and sorry for the noob question |

Nope. The car is built extremely solid and much better than the E46 predecessor. I have yet to experience any issues. The recalls should have been done and if they haven't, BMW will take care of them at your local dealer as long as there are no aftermarket parts, etc. on the car.
Why is the rx8 impractical for a college student? |

The 2 main concerns would be the pass. seat occupancy sensor, and door latches failing. Other than that, pretty solid car.

as for the rx8 it gets horrible gas mileage like low teens around city...i will usually get a max of 180 mi to a full tank of gas...plus it takes a whole tank fro me to get from tallahassee to st. pete. its also quite small considering that from time to time i have my car packed full of people...and luggage sometimes Quote:
thanks for the replies |

trying to keep the payments equal to the RX-8 soooo...no more than 18000
the one i'm going to look at this weekend has just about the same mileage as yours and is going for $17,500...which i think is an alright deal because most of the 3 series i've seen are a tad over $20000 i'd just buy a cheaper e46 but i'd really like to build up an e90 |

man i test drove an rx8 at a mazda event once... the drive was pretty sweet. I would seriously consider the trade off.
College would be the time to have a car like an rx8...

the car really is amazing...especially with the coilovers it will take almost any turn at any speed lol
it's definitely not the fastest car out there...actually i'm pretty sure a grandma in a v6 accord could beat it haha but the real fun is in the corners however the low teens gas mileage is killing my wallet...i drive around the girlfriends mini half the time...28 mpg in the city FTW |
