Sealant Vs. Wax?

Just picked myself a detail kit and am getting ready to go at it starting Thursday! The weather will be nice and vacation will have kicked in

Just a question though, I bought some Sealant and some Wax.

So the steps are Polish, Sealant, and than Wax, or just sealant?

What sealant and wax are you planning to use?

some sealants look better doubled up with themselves - BFWD, powerlock, poxy

some look better with a carnuba - jetseal

some look good alone - bfwd, powerlock, body wrap

you can apply wax on top of sealant it will give you extra shine. sealant alone should last you anywhere from 4-6 months. i saw in your other thread you ordered Griot's products. i would apply wax on top of the sealant if your car is jet black (not sure from your avatar) it'll give you a nice deep shine. but you can leave sealant alone if you don't feel like doing the extra step.

Ive always had good luck with CG jetseal. May be worth picking up a bottle also CG petes 50/50 seemed to give me good results.

Sealant, in a way, is like a wax that lasts longer. It's more functional, as it doesn't give the shine and gloss that a wax will, but it protects better and for longer. If you want the surface of your car to look perfectly wet, layer two coats of a sealant and then a coat of wax on top of that.

+1 I normally seal then wax. Then after every wash, I wipe the car down with spray wax. My alpine white gets super glossy.
