Best cold air intake

Are there now any alternatives to the Dinan cold air intake system? It is very expensive! I know that BMS, AfE have dual cone air intakes, but they are not cold air intake systems because they breath the hot air that accumulates under the hood. I would prefer a true cold air intake system that is as good quality as the Dinan, but not so expensive because of warranty/insurance.

This topic has been absolutely beaten to death, please do some searching around.

Mr.5, stett, dinan all make true "cold air" setups.

But do your wallet a favor and just get a simple DCI. Intakes are pretty marginal until you start making a good deal of power.

I read a lot of threads, but maybe I am not understanding something. I thought BMS was not a true cold air intake because it is getting hot air whereas the Dinan has the cover and gets cold air from somewhere outside of the hood. In other words, BMS dual cone intake is not the same as the Dinan cold air intake because of where the air comes from...

I'm not looking for more power. I'm more interested in what will be healthiest for the turbo.

Mr.5 sounds good, but I'm not sure I'm mechanically adept to do it. I'll look up Stett.

You are correct, DCIs are not "cold air". What i and others would argue is that the difference in performance will be marginal, the difference in cost significant. I dont have the energy to get into the whole "hot air vs more air" discussion, there must be a dozen threads that cover it though.

+1

hundreds or thousands run a dci/afe with no issue. A true CAI wouldnt really lower IAT significantly anyways.

Ok thanks guys. I did see Terry do some tests with the BMS dual cone intake system and it performs well. I realize that the dual cone intake system (not true cold air intake) would improve air flow and sound over the stock intake.

Maybe the better question is this: Would the BMS dual cone intake deliver hotter air than the stock intake or are they both delivering similarly hot air? In other words, IAT is same for both stock and BMS dual cone intake.

Go to Drag Times . Com look up the fastest 135/335 cars listed & buy what they have DCI's. But if you are not into the high 11's already just leave it stock.

This one is the best cold air intake you can get...

It's a little expensive, but currently $50 off.

In my opinion, no. That's just my opinion. I'd say Dinan or stay OEM. (And I'm not even a big Dinan fan) I'm running the stock intake with a clean OEM filter with my mods in the sig below. Dinan = too much $$.

I have a nearly complete Dinan set up, But I went with BMS for my intake- no regrets, a few more HP and torque in WOT, and sounds amazing
