Can't comment on the others but I have the previous model Sony (BDP 363) and I can't fault it, I bought it has it regularly beat players of greater value in various tests in what home cinema etc, it received 5 out of 5 on all tests and even beat a pioneer player that cost almost £600.

I looked at the Sony on various sites and it rates very highly.

The Sony one will be great, it punches well above its price-point.

You don't need to be mate. Genuinely, it punches well above its weight for the price but does lots more than other players. Games are just a bonus really, I don't really rate the PS3 compared to the 360, but as a media and bluray setup, its perfect.

Gran Turismo B-Spec mode offers a great tech demo for non gamers too.

I've got a pioneer BDP-LX53 and it's been spot on! recently watched avatar through it and it was pretty damn good! Can update the firmware from Pioneer's website when the new Blu Ray discs come out to keep up with the latest version's.

Agreed. PS3 all the way. I never use it for games, but it's so much more than that. Stick your entire music collection and photo on it, or stream from a pc. It's also got BBC I player, ITV player and 4OD. In addition you have a web browser so you can do YouTube etc. Also, there's VidZone which is a free music video thing where you can just search and watch any of thousands of vids.

Then there is Love film video rental for pay per view.

Awesome bit of kit!

I have the panasonic and the sony but in the previous versions.

Can't see any difference myself. I have the tvs too so both hook up via link and both work great and the pq is stunning on both.

The sony is a bit noisier which is a common complaint of the model i have but I reckon they probably fixed that.

Slept on the PS3 idea and I dont think that is really an option, I would rather get a BR player. I think is gonna be the sony now but not the one listed, another has been pointed out i.e this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-BDP-S57...4059588&sr=8-1 which I think is better again for an extra £60 odd.

I have a Samsung BD player and its total w4nk.
Admittedly its one of the earlier ones, and although I'm a big fan of Samsung products generally, it is enough to convince me never to get a Samsung BD player again.

The main problem is how slow it is to load up the disc menu and respond to remote control functions generally, its enough to drive you mad.
The firmware updates are infrequent and badly managed, there are several discs I have tried that it won't play.....I could go on.

I also have a PS3, and echo other views on here. As a Blu ray player alone its completely unsurpassed by anything on the market. You need to forget about it being a games console as well, its the best BD player you can get. Everytime a disc hasn't played on the Samsung, I move the PS3 into the lounge and it plays perfectly.

In hindsight, I wish I had bought another PS3 to use as the main BD player in the lounge.

Not a lot I can add then buddy. The PS3 is your best option imho and I have no opinion on the players so can't comment. Best of luck whichever you decide mate!
