e92 ecu
So, briefly I bought an e92 320i which had front end damage as a project, the engine turned but very slowly but didn't fire, like it was seized, air bags had been deployed....Red car on ramps, and in amber, air bag, engine llight illuminated the dash.
After exploring the engine further it was apparent it needed to be rebuilt, so I've done that even though I'm not a mechanic but was an interesting project. Connected it all up lights still showed, pressed the start button....Nothing, infact just turned it self off. So I'm thinking Ecu is damaged.... I understand that tye e92 uses encrypted ignition codes between the Ecu/ dme and the cas unit to generate the release code for the Ews immobiliser. My questions are.. If u replace the Ecu, the cas, the key holder with a key from a donor car with similar specs and almost identical part numbers will this generate enough info to convince my car it's correct and start.....at what point iare enough modules changed to allow ignition. Then I could re program or at least drive it to a garage so the smaller modules can be programmedto work with the new Ecu then adjust or remap the Ecu to work with autonomy transmission and generate the correct out put hp. At a loss and need some much needed accurate advice.. Dont have the spare money to replace the Ecu.....and what if it's not that at fault.... Any advice on what to check to allow it to start for the first time? |

My advice: find proper person or garage and let them fix your car. Otherwise you will loose lot of money.
By the way, you shouldn't buy car in this condition without extra money for repair. |

It's more of a personal achievement thing, a project if you like a father son bonding experience. Learning how to rebuild an engine and bringing something back to life....mechanically we are good but it must be electronics that stopping it from going hence the advice that is sort.
As for money the plan wasn't to get made redundant during the process but things happen. |
