well, OK, i get your point. At least, could you please summarize all the HW and SW options you needed for dynamic cruise control for your customer? And also, some price indication and time consumption of your mechanic would be good. I will try to convince my garage to try the same exercize you did... Or otherwise I am gonna change the car.

Thanks

Hi mate

The hw is vehicle specific, but a basic summary is

Instrument cluster with cruise control
Steering column control unit (with indicator, window wipers and cc)
dynamic module
cover for under the steering column

then depending on spec,

plastic connector block and housing for dynamic module
wires and pin connecters for connector block
wiring diagram from BMW WDS
possible a FA coding (complete base coding) with added option 544

updating of all new HW with chassis number / info
coding

not that hard
But not what you would call a regular BMW retrofit

hi !
I didnt do it myself, are u joking !

the retrofit was actually a mistake from BMW

They said the car could be fitted with it, but it wasnt prepped
Our mechanic said it was a possibility to prep the car for retrofit, but we would need the progrm from BMW

BMW says this is also a "normal" procedure for non prepped or older models

The parts are going to cost about 12000 dkk +from BMW
then it depends on if the car is prepped or not.
The coding/updating via ISS, then you should be good

labour apprx 6 hrs if all is prepped , another 2 if not, and coding @ dealer rates 6000 dkk

all inkl. about 18-20k

That price is just to much for having a cruise control installed - i guess i just keep on going with two speeds - speeder up and speeder down

If you hear of any new solutions making the installation cheaper - please let me know as i might be interested....

not worth the price it seems, the fuel efficiency you gain from it is offset by the stupid costs and hassles! wanted to do it but seems like no point.

the 4 cyl retrofit isnt so bad, but i havnt done this yet so i cant say how hard it is to do.

It is planned for mine, but only when i have got the 100% correct info , and then its to be ordered.

Mallard I was hoping to have the basic cruise control done on my 4Cyl E90, so all I need is the stalk with the cruise control arm and the plastic covers under the steering wheel column + coding? if thats so then its should be a easy one right?

I just bought an e92 335i from Germany with almost every option and 9000 km on the clock. It was about 60k€ including finnish taxes. I had a friend check it for me so I didn't test drive the car before transfering the money from Finland.
I was quite amazed on autobahn when I noticed that the car didn't have any sort of cruise control.

I can see why it isn't that important in Germany where you don't have to care that much what speed you are driving but in Finland with ridiculous high traffic fines it's really a must have option. I want to make sure I'm always driving as fast as possible without getting speeding tickets. Without cruise control I'm always accidentally driving too fast.

So what parts do I need to retrofit the dynamic cruise control?
I would guess it's easier to retrofit the dynamic cruise control than the active one.
Will it help that my car is newer than 2006?
The pictures on the first page doesn't seem to work anymore.

I asked it from my dealer and they told me it would be about 1000 € (parts 600 € and work 400 €).
I hope everything goes well.

Hi ,

Can you just clarify something for me ,

I have 330d with cruise fitted .. the type that applies the brakes if you resume and are going too fast.

From the active cruise point of view the braking and accelerating function is already in place.. all that would in my mind be required would be the radar that sits in the front lower grille. Plug it in .. enable it and off you go.

Do you know any more of what is involved with the installation ? are there more sensors or devices required ?
I called my dealer and asked but they said no it cannot be retro fitted.. but crucially never asked what car i had so i assume they just being a) difficult b) don't know what I’m talking about.

any info would be great as I truly believe that it shouldn't be a hard thing to upgrade too

I'll ask again ...
I have dynamic cruise ( brake function) does this mean I have the control unit people talk about already fitted ?
If the answer is yes .. Then I will but the radar unit and fit it.

Vakionopeuden säätimen jälkiasennus?

Moro!

Miten tuo homma lopulta sujui ja mitä maksoi? mulla kun on sama ongelma 330iA vm. 2006 kanssa. Niin ja missä teetit? Joka kyläpaja ei varmaan noita osaa asennuksia tehdäkään.
