ETS intercooler (5 inch core) - info and where to buy

looking at getting the ETS intercooler to replace my old VK intercooler. Stats on the ETS seem better and the ETS gets rid of the restrictive OEM intercooler piping. It seems like you have to dremel cut the metal band ring holding the pass side OEM intercooler piping. Is there anyway to remove it without destroying the band clamp in the event I need to go back to stock? Can you buy just the clamp or do you need a new hose?
any input on what vendor to buy from?

thanks
Jay

Use a T clamp

If you go back stock and they question it tell the dealer it was leaking and that's how u fixed it

You should be able to order the piping/clamp through tischer if you need to go back to stock.
As far as vendors, that's an easy one: Jeff@topgearsolutions is who you need to order through.

U can cut the rubber ets coupler and fit it over the oem piece so if u go back to stock it's still 100% oem.

Pmd u...I have a 5" ETS intercooler for sale

I used a hose clamp on the OEM pipe for dealer visits, really not a big deal. Personally I dont worry about FMIC and dealer trips anymore. Its nearly undetectable. Unless they are working in the area.

As far as the clamp goes - you have to cut it off. It is a one-piece welded band of stainless steel. If you are extremely careful, you can get it off without burning or cutting the rubber underneath with a dremel or other high speed disc cutting tool. You will, however, most likely damage the rubber hose under the clamp. If you are able to save it, then you can simply use a T-bolt clamp to put the stock hose back on and reinstall the stock IC.

I've heard that if you're ever thinking of running upgraded turbos, ETS 7" is more ideal.

E90Post is awesome! I'm installing my ETS 5" FMIC this morning and I've been struggling with that stupid passenger side clamp all morning. I was at the point of dremeling it off, but wanted a sanity check first and voila! First search hits me this thread. Thanks, guys.

Just dremel off and use a standard clamp if/when going back to stock. Likely, no one will ever notice.
