How long can I keep race gas?

Have an opened 1/2 gallon drum and 1 closed gallon sitting at home. Purchased last summer. How long does it last and how do I tell of its still usable?

Unless you put some gas stabilizer in it, its probably not good. They say it only last for about "1 season" 3-4 months. However, most recommendations are very conservative. Doesnt really help but a 1/2 a gallon isn't that much, I wouldnt bother.

Supposedly its still not considered air tight, and therefore it can lose up to 1 point of octane per month. Like I said, half a gallon isn't much gas. Just buy some fresh gas and throw that old stuff in the lawn mower/snow blower LOL

The expense to actually test the gas isn't worth it either.

Meth in a drum last a good amount of time, over-time it may leech some water. So it might not be 100% meth it might be 98% or whatever.

My meth in my 5 gallon drum is about 4 or 5 months old. I pretty much just run all Meth with a splash of water at this point cause I know its a little "weaker" then normal.

I think I had a thread back in the day about meth storage and there was a good discussion if I recall.
