Hey EFI, can you give us some indication in what you all can tune? Can you adjust MAF, load calcs. How about throttle to boost, timing per gear, IAT corrections, DME throttle reaction time, retard delay during a gear change. boost range based on air density, baro. Boost PID.

any cooling alterations, pump speed, fan, etc.

Some insight would be great.

Heres the Tuning guide from Cobbs website: http://www.cobbtuning.com/v/vspfiles...FinalAlpha.pdf

I just bought the HFS-4 on the aquamist group buy and once i receive it and have it installed I'll be heading to Cobb Socal to have a custom tune made as well.

This is an excellent indication of the parameters we can calibrate using the Cobb Software. I'm aware Procede may be a bit more in depth, and we are certainly open to the idea of using different software along with the Cobb Software.

The Cobb Software is pretty intense, there are many variables that can be adjusted, including Throttle angles (multiple), Req / Demand Torque (Multiple), Req Load and limits, CAT adjustments and limitations, HPFP commanded, Load / Boost offsets for multiple conditions, Ign Advance (Multiple), Individual Cyl Compensations, Multiple Boost and WGDC tables, DTC control and Multiple controls for disabling and enabling certain features.

Hope that helps.

Thanks,

Chris

How far back in the day? I can't ever remember Chris charging that little for any tune! I just asked him, and he said the cheapest he ever charged for a Subaru tune was back in 05, and that was $350!

I have an appointment to be ProTuned in April and was quoted 175 an hour and that it takes about 3 hours for a map so 525 per map is what i am looking at.

isnt $500 bit too much considering the "custom tune" will be just tweaks from the cobb maps instead of tuning from scratch? or is this just one of those BMW (Break My Wallet) premium??

The RB turbos have been on their shop car for a few weeks now. The maps are still in the development phase, and a few members of this forum are helping them along with datalogs from their RB powered cars. I'm driving with a stage 3 pump beta map myself right now that is already very very good. It would be my guess that the definite maps will be released very soon.

I don't think it's a BMW premium - it's more of the cost to own/run a dyno in a shop and most importantly, the knowledge and experience of the tuner. Different areas of the country/world have different operating costs just to keep the doors open and lights on, and dyno operators have varying levels of skill and experience. Same goes for any technical work. Just because one dyno shop charges $350 to get customers in the door, a highly experienced shop with a client list a mile long may charge more because they don't have to drop their prices to get more business. Most of the time you get what you pay for.

There may be opportunities to do a group tune day in the future in order to lower the cost if there is enough interest, but what you are paying for is experience, knowledge, tools and service. Chris, who is responsible for all of the tuning at EFI Logics, has a degree in computer science and has tuned thousands of cars, literally, ranging from open wheel race cars to BMWs. Our facility has all the right tools including a Mustang AWD 500SE load bearing dyno and 75mph fan which can simulate most road conditions ensuring accuracy. And we will always provide the best service possible in every way that we can. Custom calibration may not be for everyone, but we are proud to offer the service to the community and we feel our pricing is competitive.

I should have paid you guys a visit when I had my EvoX. But now that I know you also work on the N54 motors I may still pay you a visit once I get bored of the OTS maps.
