19" wheels: bad idea?

So, I just purchased an E92 with the upgraded 230 wheel package. Car looks great, but I am worried about cracking a wheel at some point. This is my first set of 19" wheels. I will mostly be running these in the warmer months, but we have a lot of potholes appearing in the spring. The roads around here aren't great, at least on surface streets; many were paved 20 years ago when population was 25k, not 90k. I have a set of 18" 193m wheels from my old car. The 230's look nicer, but am I asking for trouble by using those?

Somewhat related question: is there an issue with running one of my winter 17" wheels temporarily in case I did run into a damaged wheel issue at some point?

Get low pressure cast or forged wheels. I've hit a few potholes in the last few years and they are still holding up.

Edit- oem wheels should be low pressure cast.

Stick to 18's I just put 19's on my E90 2 weeks ago and ruined my right rear wheel within a week. Obviously it's not the wheel size but the diameter of the sidewall. But they do look great. I am also rubbing in the front when the wheels are turned hard.

are you lowered?

my plan is 18" as well. sometime i think 19" look too big on an E90 but maybe that's because I see my 18" wheels all the time.

If you think that 19's look better on your car why would you settle for 18's? If you f'ed up the 19's, you got the 18's on the side. Besides, what's your plan on your 230's if you're not gonna use it? Unless it's a comfort issue like too harsh for the ride then ofcourse 18's would give you more forgiving wall. Just my 2 cents.

A lot of people on this forum are running 19's. Just don't drive like an ass and you'll be fine.
