Is this normal wear or is something wrong (stock rims + tire size)

View post on imgur.com

Was about to swap out my winter tire set this afternoon when I noticed this damage on my summer set. Both rear tires have similar wear patterns along the interior, front tires seem fine. All have 20-25k miles on them. 2008 335i w/ sport pkg, stock rims, stock tire size. I know the BMW's have larger negative camber in the back (especially with the sport package). However, this damage seems pretty extreme to me.

I found this old thread, which indicates that damage here may be normal. However, the inside of my rear tires has a compressed look to it. Is it possible something is rubbing, or have you guys seen this before?

Thoughts?

Yea I see that kind of wear before. Just get an alignment before you throw on new tires. Just be glad you don't own a X5 with sport wheels the stock tires go out in 15K miles with same problems.

I think you're rubbing on something. That's a canal wear. I don't think it's an alignment issue because the tread just beside that canal is not as bad.

Your toe is out of spec. You just need to get an alignment. I've had many tires that ended up looking like that from out of spec alignments.
