Cost to get tips welded

I was thinking of getting a set of those fancy 4" tips from Cyba.

If you have a set, how much are you paying to get them welded on? It seems that they do not slip over the pipe for welding but have to be butt-welded since they are the same diameter.

I'm in MD. Anyone have an idea? I've spoken to muffler shops and they need to see the car and the tips.

I just want to know if it's going to be $100 or $400.

It'll be closer to $100. I had my 4" DiMisa Tips welded on for $80 at Ronaldo's Mufflers and Brakes in Rockville, MD. That was on the high side too compared to what others on E90Post were paying to get their tips welded on.

PS - Congrats on the new LCI 335i. It really looks great

At the maximum you should only be paying the labor rate for one hour or less if they have a 1/2 hour rate, not all shops do. Some shops charge a little extra for welding materials and some don't. It should cost anywhere from $70-$90, definitely don't pay over $100. Cutting off old tips and welding in some new tips gets done in no time by someone with experience.

It cost me $200 to get my cats cut out. That was 2 hours of labor, high quality clamps, and fabrication of straight pipes to replace the cats.

Thanks guys. I assume your shop lowered the exhaust down to weld.

Mine did not lower it. There should be enough room for the welder to work even with the exhaust fully on.
