First Snow Ride

Just picked up an e92 335xi this fall and finally we got our first snow fall down here in Newport RI. Needless to say I was very eager to take her for a ride. I had an e46 M3 for the past few years and every winter I would get so frustrated. I couldn't drive it anywhere without getting stuck somewhere. I must say....I am truly impressed with the 335xi. No problems getting around town what so ever. Zero regrets for making the switch.

Since I'm new to the xi.....I'm curious what people's thoughts are in regards to snow driving. DTC on or just stick with DSC?

I run with winter tires so that may make a difference. I find the car much more capable in the snow with DTC on.

Curious as to what tires you were running in the winter on the M3.

Same. I've driven an E46 non-M, E46 M3, and E92 non-M in snow. My E46 M3 has Blizzak LM-60 tires on stock 18" wheels and hasn't had problems. I'm guessing you were running summer or all-season tires.

In regards to winter driving, leave DSC on. Just turn it off when you have trouble getting moving from a stop such as stuck in a parking space.

I had Potenzas on my M3.....don't remember the model though. The main problem for me is that I live on a hill. Any time it snowed I just couldn't make it up my street to go anywhere. My roommate had a 330i with all season tires and had the same problem. Yesterday the 335 didn't even struggle at all.

Seems like DSC vs. DTC is a matter of preference depending on your driving style. I tend to be a little more cautious in the snow. Mainly because I don't trust anyone else out on the snow. I guess time will tell which I prefer.

congrats on the on getting the Xi, I'm running my 08 with winter tires and have no worries on getting stuck in the snow.
