Horrible Few days...

So I've been having a horrible few days found out I have a possible disease in my digestive tract and had my first accident today. Was on my way to class and the car in front of me abruptly stopped to avoid a car in front of it. He stopped suddenly and I didn't have enough time to react. I was not tailgating and had atleast a 5 car distance between. He just came to a dead stopped, I immediately hit the brakes but didn't have enough distance. I skidded and rear ended him. Thankfully I was driving my commuter car. No one was hurt but my pride was. Just wanted to share, everyone drive safe!

Yeah it does, today I learned how horrible the civic is. If I was in my bmw I wouldn't of hit him. The brakes are horrible. But on the bright side it's only gonna cost 400 to fix. I only have liability on it but my buddy's roomate has a body shop.

And hopefully the doctor determines that you don't have the disease.

Its not the brakes fault...they did their job as you said the tires skidded. Thats because your tires didn't have enough grip.

The tires are fairly new, they have roughly 70% tread but I mean the car in general as far as it being a car is horrible. It's like a rickshaw top heavy and slides. But thanks for correcting me.

Sorry to hear man, and deffinately. I noticed I would lose traction if I would take a 25 MPH on ramp curve doing 15. I'm more than likely going to sell the vehicle after it's repaired.

Ouch. Glad the accident didn't add anything else to your health. Have a gut feeling you'll be okay. ()

8 months ago. Put on about 8k miles since. But the day of the accident I heard the breaks making a "wrah" luggie sound when I would brake.

Thanks everyone for the support!

As of right now I'm dropping it off at the shop on Wednesday, I have a quote of 400 for labor for the repair. 160 for parts and the engine is idling rough but drives fine on the freeway which is odd. But the shop has their own mechanic so it will be looked at. As long as the total is under 999 I'll be happy.

Not to add insult to injury, but obviously, since you rear ended him, you were following too close. It's time to readjust how you estimate you safety distance. And keep up on the maintenance. Good luck with the repair and the insurance premiums :/

I wasn't that close, I had atleast 150 feet between us. His car was able to come to a dead stop faster than my car. I keep everything up to date on maintenance brakes typically don't wear out at the 8K mark. I typically drive super slow while I'm in the honda. But thank you for wishing me luck, my insurance has informed me my rates will probably not change, and if they do by only a few dollars a month.
