Correct Tire Pressure for Conti ExtremeContact DWS on a 335i xdrive Coupe M-Sport

Hi,

I've ordered replacement Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires for my 2011 335i xdrive coupe M-Sport and the installer is stating that I should ignore the correct tire pressure for the Bridgestone Potenza run flats and instead go with 35psi up front and 37psi out back. Ordered the same 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 sizes. Any idea if this is correct? Should i stick with the 32/38 recommended by BMW?

Stick with what BMW specifies. They don't just pull those numbers out of their butts.

I have the same car with the same tires.

I believe the factory recommendation for the staggered RFT's is 36/41. I had the dealer mount and balance the tires as there are no reputable tire shops in my area and I believe they recommend staying with the stock RFT pressures.

The cars been driving great with no abnormal tire wear thus far.

Great. Thanks for the info. Will let the installer know to keep the factory recommended settings.

How do you like the tires? Noisy? Gas mileage up or down? Do they grip in snow at all? With winter hopefully behind us, won't have to worry about this until next year but....

DWS are not runflats so probably different settings.

Just get winter tires . You will be able to accel but stopping will not be good....no matter what anyone says. You NEED winters.....and should have ordered summers...big difference there too.

I would guess that pressure will vary between RFT and non-RFT.

I have these same tires, except 235/265. Approx. 10k on them now. They were silent at first, but the fronts are getting to be noisy as hell now - whining at highway speed. Checked them - lots of tread, no issues.

Garage List
Have Conti 245X35X19 - 275X30X19 DW's for 23500 miles. Use the BMW sticker on the door

I bought them as a replacement for the noisy and worn out RFT's when I bought the car in January. I wanted something that I could run year round without worry.

So far they have been great. I haven't noticed any improvement or decline in gas milage. They ride ride pretty quiet and smooth for an all season and they have pretty decent tread wear. They were fantastic in the few snow storms we had. They handled everything my fiancés awd TL did and she has dedicated winter tires on for winter. I am very pleased with them so far.

Use the tire pressure recommended by BMW located on the driver door placard.

Also agree with using door plate info. If nothing else, the DWS are softer than most HP tires and running 36/41 or whatever it happens to be will help with responsiveness during spirited driving. On on my second set myself.

Anyone care to explain logic behind the +5psi bias for the rear. Seems most BMWs have this and I assume it relates to better balance and weight transfer?

Good Luck.
