Spacers?? Are they safe to use?

Hey I'm getting new wheels but the offset is only offered in 40 and 20 for the front so I'm going to go with the 40 and was thinking of getting some spacers so I can have a flush look. What size should I get and are they good to use? I've heard some negative things about them. Especially on a bmw

Have been using spacers (ebay and high end ones like H&R, macht schnell and etc.) for over 5 years now and never had a problem with them.

That being said, ET20 is easily fitted in the front for 8.5" wide wheels.

I've been using spacers for over 10yrs without a single issue, so I personally don't see a problem with them. I've always used hub centric versions as well. Just make sure they are seated properly on the hub before you tighten things down otherwise you might get a shake in the steering wheel.

For the front
8.5 Et20 would fit with a 225
8.5 et40 will fit with a 235 or 245
9.5 et33 will fit with a 235 or 245

You can fit a wider rear wheel or use lower offsets if you roll your rear fenders

ET40 is too high, that is the offset made for 1 series.
ET20 will look great but only if you are lowered or else you'll look like a jeep.

The common thing to do is lower the car first then get wheels.

As long as you're using the proper hardware, spacers are perfectly fine.

I went ahead and ordered the VB3s today. Hopefully I won't even need spacers

Running 20mm spacers up front et20 on 8.5 and 9.5 et22 with 5mm spacers but I have my rear fenders rolled and lowered with 1finger gap all around. Vb3 is my set up to. Also as long as the spacers are hubcentric it should be fine. Mchatt schnell , rs teknik, h&r , bms should all work fine
