Transmission fault
Anybody had this before?
Drove the car around today in manual mode, nothing too aggressive or anything but obviously around town, starting-stopping changing gears all the time. No problems whatsoever, went home and a couple of hours later went to start it up again and as soon as I turned it on i got a transmission fault. Didn't do anything, didn't even try reverse it out of the garage. I turned it straight off and back on again and the fault disappeared. Took the car out for maybe 10 or so minutes in manual mode and responded fine to shifting even though I didn't go past third gear. I just got petrol and went home. Is there anything I should be worried about? I'm booked for service next week so I'll get it checked then but I don't want to rock up and hear some bad news that I wasn't ready for. The only thing I can think of now when I look back, it only happened a few times but when I was shifting earlier today for example say I was in 4th and I shift down to 3rd, the dash showed the M3 straight away but it took a second or so for the car to actually shift down. I didn't think much of it at the time but maybe it was telling me something? Its an 09 DCT |

Unless the fault comes back I would not worry
If you are concerned someone can read the code for you (assuming you dont have a code reader yourself) |

Yeah I don't have a code reader.
I'm only concerned because its transmission fault and I can't really find anything specific on the net. I don't know whether I should drive one hour to work or not, don't want to get stuck on the way |

Some of the DCT owners may be able to pipe up, but if she's driving ok im sure there's no major issues |

What mods are you running? If tuned, what are the details around that?

I have had that message a few times.
Recently, I had an oil leak on my DCT and I read on the M3 forums that low oil can cause issues. The BMW dealer I took it to said that's the first thing you need to check if you get an error. Have a look below the car to see that there's no leaks. |
