2013 E92 328i M-Sport 6 Speed Build Thread
Origin Story
N52s (or N51 in this case ) have always been neat to me and my friend was getting rid of this thing for cheap after I called first dibs on it so here we are! Crazy build spec; 2013, single owner (effectively), slicktop, single hump, manual seats, M-Sport, and 6 speed. Ideally, it wouldn't be black nor have wood trim, but the latter is an easy and relatively inexpensive fix. I'll get photos some other time, its completely stock and Black Sapphire Metallic, extremely un-noteworthy. Build Plans Trying to turn it in to a car where I don't have to worry about anything mechanically, look sick, and be fun in corners. So far I have ordered: Maintenance
Suspension/Performance
Wheels
Note: Apex recommended against this fitment, planning to run -3.7F/-2.5R for camber, zero toe F/R. It'll also likely require a rear fender pull, roll, and/or shave. I'm also running smaller diameter and narrower tires than usual. Backordered until ~April 2024 so I guess I'll find out then! Future Plans In the immediate future, mechanically, it needs new front wheel bearings and a new transmission as the third gear synchro is gone. Cosmetics The car is definitely a 10 footer as it sits, but honestly it would be just a paint correction, maybe a front and rear bumper respray along with a lip, spoiler, and maybe side skirt extensions. The rear parcel shelf is sun faded, so I'll respray that. Headliner and pillars are good! Powertrain Not sure on plans for the exhaust just yet, the Condor SE9x headers seem to put out good power. I'm also pretty interested in the yet-to-be-released 22RPD trumpet setup along with some MILVs if those ever come back in to existence. The 163k mile motor also has a decent lifter tick so I may tackle that down the line as well... or get an N52 to put in (and also do the lifters on that preventatively). No current codes for VANOS, DISA, or Valvetronic motor but I wouldn't be surprised if those become an issue. Driveline Will probably pick up a 3.73 diff to rebuild with a plated LSD along with a REM polish of the ring gear and pinion. No current CSB or guibo issues, will check the condition whenever I get under this thing. Brakes No plans yet other than new fluid. Feel free to chime in with any other common N51/2 issues I won't be addressing as I'm new to the E9x platform! Last edited by dudemanppl; 12-05-2023 at 11:17 PM.. |
