Bluetooth works fine for me I have the same problem as BoringBlue. Plus the option to tick audio on is grayed out. BMW hardware compatability list is laughable.

I did the Bluetooth firmware upgrade in early 2015 and it was truly a game changer. I would start there. Since then no one who has paired their phone has any problem streaming.
