I just want it on the headlight cause those things a $@%# expensive to replace if crack.
I don't want it on the hood because looks shitty to me. Plus the cost the repaint the hood after 3-4 years will be apporx the same as the 3M.

I doubt a headlight cover will crack.. it's not glass, it's some plastic-like stuff.
I have clear bra on my car but no extra headlight protection, even here in brutal Phoenix, where I have my windshield repaired about once every few months.

I think the hood, light and mirror protection would be money well spent. Any pics of the hood protector on a silver car? (please)

I really wish there was a product to protect the windshield!! 2 months and I already have a goddamn chip. It seems that every BMW I have ever owned gets a chip within the first 2 months. SUVs should have to have mudguards.

Not having mudguards on your SUV over here (azores) is a $260 euro fine...

I would worry less about the headlights and more about the paint getting chipped up.
I think the hood/bumper don't look that bad and sure save the front end. I would rather see the edge of the film on the hood from one or two angles than see my entire front end chipped up for 3-4 years. I have Space Grey and here is how it looks on mine. |

I was thinking about getting the clear bra. But that line on the hood really bothers me. I'm the type of guy that wouldn't get PDC because it puts those little circles in your rear bumper. Any suggestions? Perhaps a full-hood cover application? I can see how that would probably not be neccesary but I'm just curious.

You can get the front bumper, headlights and mirrors without the hood if you want.
There is not full hood pattern for the BMWs that I am aware of but you could have it custom done. That will cost quite a bit though. The line on the hood is really not that noticable. I have had it on multiple vehicles. You get used to and and don't even pay attention. Keep it clean so dirt/grime does not build up and you will be good. I would rather have the line than the chips. |

Is cleaning it just the same as if it wasn't there? Do you still wax the car?

You treat the film, as long as you use a clearcoat film, just as you would the car. You don't need to clay or polish the film but you should wax it when you wax the car.
I use QD between washes and I do film and all. When waxing you may get some dried wax along the seems. To remove just soack a small corver of a MF towel with QD and gently wipe along the seam. Use the dry area to remove excess QD and you are good to go. |
