HELP! VRSF DP installed. No Power, and very bad shaking

Hi Guys,

I need help ASAP.

Just had my DPs installed.

I was expecting a code or something, but nothing? I do not even have the JB4 on auto clear. Should there be a code if auto clear is off?

Firstly it is shaking violently in the cabin.... Do you think it is hitting somewhere.

Also, my car is not boosting. I have tried map 1, 2 & 5 ... But it still running reduced power.

Could there any damage being done?

What could these be before I take it back?

Please help ASAP

Josh

Edit.
I am still driving around... And the shaking is getting better in the cabin... But I still have power loss...

Check that you put the o2 sensors back in correctly.

They said that it is not possible to put the o2/lambda sensors in wrong because they are different lengths of cable.

the shaking at startup could be bad or incorrectly installed o2s. theyre very sensitive so if you bumped them or dropped them, they could be broken. pre-cat o2s help regulate afrs, without them your car wont be happy at all, esp when its not warmed up. Its not a critical failure like a water pump, but you want to get it taken care of.

This forum would speak to the contrary.
Many have had this exact issue.

Thanks guys for the very fast replies.

I will take it back and let them know.

The shaking in the cabin was less noticeable once the car was warmed up.... But it was still there.

No one answered the following.

Should there be a check engine light because I have gone catless? I HAVE NOT set auto clear on my JB4 yet... I thought there would be a code.

Could the reason it is not boosting well be because the DPs are not done up tight enough?

Btw how much are new o2 sensors

i had no codes for catless dp's but after 50miles or less it will pop up. So yes you will get a check engine light soon

Thanks Tres! I'll keep a look out for it.

I will leave auto clear off till then.

So theoretically once the DPS are installed (correctly), should the car perform as it should immidiately? Or does it need to calibrate?

Are the symptoms of no boost because of incorrect o2 sensors?

a bad o2 will lead to sputtering and an uneasy, lurching idle, especially when cold. My car is in right now with a bad lambda o2, it didnt seem to lose much power though, and no limp modes etc. Mine is hopefullt going to get taken care of under cpo, but if not the dealer will rob you blind on them, 800ish bucks to replace one. Tischer sells them for around 180 i believe, and installation isnt very difficult from a mechanical standpoint.

Also tell them to make sure that the wastegate actuator rod is not hitting the clamps on the pipe. That seems to be a problem on some install not done correctly and will cause the low boost symptoms.

Hmmm well the car is running smooth... So may not be a damaged o2 sensor.

Must be the clamp in the way of the actuator rod.

Cheers guys for clearing that up.

Going back on the ramp in an hour.

thanks for helping me out in such a short time frame.

There's a good chance the o2's aren't damaged unless the harness was damaged upon install. It sounds like the sensors are reversed.

Make sure the gray sensors on the front and back are installed on the short/passenger side pipe

You shouldn't have to remove the heatshield as long as you use the mid pipe hanger's lateral adjustment

Most 3" DP's will rattle with the incorrect o2 sensors installed simply because the engine runs incredibly poorly and misfires a bunch.

They had to remove the oem catted DP mount, is that the mid pipe hanger? The DP was hitting it.

How would you use it to prevent the DPs hitting the heat shield?

Thanks

The mid pipe hanger is farther back and has a lateral adjustment. The DP hanger is the one you're referring to.

All sorted now!!
The shop had a difficult time but it is now boosting hard. Getting 15 to16 psi on the jb4 map 5!!!

Sounds basically stock, you just hear more turbo spool, which is NNNIIICCCEEEE!!!!

There is a little bit of an odd noise when I rev free in neutral, but I think it is just the Downpipes...maybe they need to be run in a little?

Thanks a lot Tiago, these were well worth the money!!!! Big thumbs up bud!
