HELP! 08 335xi (03/2008 build) Need info on SSTT and ECU
I have an 08 335xi under warranty and am looking to get an SSTT, but ive read that there are shadow codes that could detect a tune.
Does this apply to the 08's or just the LCI models? I would obviously take the SSTT out before going into the shop but I'm worried about codes. Has anyone done an ECU scan on a stock vs SSTT 335xi?? Or had issues with it at the dealership after they've removed the tuner before dropping it off? I need to make my decision by tomorrow afternoon thanks, -Power10 ps, tried Google and trolling the board for countless hours, havent come up with much. |

Look to get something newer/better than SSTT....SSTT is very outdated and there are much better tunes out there. I suggest a piggyback tune or even a JB+ if you want something easy to use. If you are worried about Shadow Codes, I highly recommend a BT tool (barvarian technic) for anyone with a modified car, you can easily view and erase codes with this. If you go with a PROcede or JB4, these have built in code clearing features.

Does it throw codes with the ECU? Mine has likely been updated since it went in the shop (HPFP, injectors, exhaust system). I would literally fck myself if it was throwing silent codes and keeping them in the ECU and voids my warranty. |

Keep it at 50% and it shouldn't throw a code. Like I said before, if you are concerned about your warranty, either a) don't tune your car or b) invest in a BT tool (or tune that can clear faults).
