Good deal?

http://www.hillsidehonda.com/details...VB17556NK39298
I currently own a 2008 BMW 528i and I am looking for a third car.

Strict regulations for a third car. 1. Has to be reliable, 2. Can last 150k+ miles, 3. Is decently cheap to maintain ($800 a year).

That 2006 325i looks like a great car to me and it’s at a decent price. Can hopefully lower it to $16,000.

With having 47k miles I am assuming the original warranty is ending soon. So what are my options on purchasing a CPO type warranty from BMW?
What is the regular maintenance on this car?
Average costs yearly after you have hit 50k?

Maintenance after 100k will not be cheap...on any luxury car. BTW why would someone trade in a BMW for a Honda? Sounds, shady.

No according to the carfax it was at Bayside BMW and then went to Hillside Honda?

Anyway the second car is a 2006 Mercedes ML320. I do understand that BMW's are somewhat not reliable but are they that bad that they are past the point of even being considered reliable? I have not had any problems with my 08 528i for 10 months now.

And by cheap I mean $800 a year for repairs/normal stuff.

It's not that I consider BMW's to be unreliable, it's just that if something does happen (accident, premature failure, etc), it will not be cheap to fix. I'm about to dish out over 5k for sliding into a curb at about 20mph. Btw since your at the Honda dealer, I would suggest getting a Honda, if you want reliability. I had an accord past 150k. Just sold it running mechanical fine and cosmetically decent...it was a 2000. Plus I had a very similar accident on my accord to the one I described with my current E90 and it was about 1800 to fix. It also included allot more parts than what I need replaced on my E90.

I am also considering an 08 Accord. The accord seems like blah. After asking several friends that have E90's without warranty they say $800 a year should be fine. Thats not that expensive.
Just needing opinions. How are the auto transmissions on these cars? Are they horrible like the E46's had that after 90k you were done?

Not really sure. It's still a relatively new platform. I have an auto , and it hasn't given me any problems. I haven't heard of others with problems either. It is a great car don't get me wrong. It's just if I were to get a car that I wanted to last/not be to expensive I wouldn't get a BMW. My future plans, after I graduate and have a steady income, is to buy a decent daily driver and have a BMW for a weekend, day off, great weather car.

Thats cool. I am also a student. Looking for a fun car if you know what I mean. The 528i and the Ml320 are fine so I don't know. My other options are like I said the 08 Accord, TSX, maybe an IS250.

528i is slow as hell, and 800 a year isnt cheap if you own it to 150k, thats roughly 8-10k worth of work plus how much you pay for it, wheras the honda will be like 100 a year

I think it might be cheap to him. He's already got an BMW and MB. Seems like he's well aware of the costs. MB are a bitch to maintain. My grandfather has an S500 and he pays maddddd money when he takes it in for service.

True. But sometimes only the oil changes need to be done a year on most cars. Lets say I buy this car. 2 Oil Changes a year if I do DIY will be $120. Not expensive at all.

Give me a list of things that you guys replace every year. I am new to high mileage german cars. By 100k I am guessing the water pump/brakes/rotors/all the fluids. All should cost $2000 if done DIY/Indy maybe $1600?

Based on the three requirements that you put, I strongly recommend a VW Passat with the 2.0 TDI engine and 5-speed manual gearbox!

It will fit your price range perfectly. The 2.0TDI is an ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING engine with low operating costs. You can expect easy 300K+ miles out of it if maintained properly.

STAY AWAY from this car, look at the carfax report. It was involved in an accident with a deer!

you own a mercedes ML out of all things and your calling bmw's unreliable? are you serious?! ... luxury cars arn't made to last that long. if you're looking to spend 16 grand on a used bimmer know it's going to cost you to maintain. you should just a year old accord or something, sounds like something that might be more up your alley.
