Hi. Can I pick the collective brain on tyres?

Hi Everyone,

I thought I'd introduce myself as a new member. I had my sapphire black E90 330d delivered on Sat, and spent the entire weekend with the biggest grin on my face. What a car.... I'll be updating with pics and so forth when the weather improves.

Anyway as to protecting my beauty I have a couple of UK specific questions. can you indulge me?

The car came with 4 new Bridgestone RFTs. I asked around I've just been quoted £202 to replace one (I haven't actually had a puncture). So therefore tyre insurance is a no brainer. What is really irritating is where to get it. I did a google and came up stuck...

The only people who seem to do it are

1. AA Warranty (£149 pa)
2. car2cover (from £99pa)

Aiding mobility (AXA) don't do it any more
RAC don't do it anymore
click4tyre haven't started.

So who's got it and where did they get it? and have you had any arguements about it with the agencies?

The last thread I saw when I seached was a couple of years ago. So not much info is around.

Your help appreciated.

Regards

Simon

Try the Stealer...

Mine Coopers.. did 3 yrs cover @ £149 (total not pA)

Max claim of £300 per tyre

up to 5 tyre claims per policy

each new tyre can be re-insured for a £4.50 payment.

I pay the first £10 of any cliam..

Hmmmmm. Thanks Rags.

I did ask the dealer I bought the car off (Robert Stern - Worcs.) and they had never heard of it. Perhaps since it was Approved Used rather then new.

The deal you got sounds very like the AA Warranty deal.

Anyone else used car2cover? works out at £199 for 3yrs.

On a side topic has anyone got a idea how long the Bridgestone OEM RFTs last assuming pretty conservative driving + 25% M-ways?

Regards

Simon

Welcome,

I've just taken out 3 years with car2cover. As I've only just taken out the policy, it's hard to say how good/bad they are, only time will tell.

My dealer wanted 250 for the same sort of cover.

I've got Michelins on mine and they are a superb tyre - highly recommend them. Done 17,000 and there's oodles of tread left...

Question RTI Recommendations

With my car less than a couple of weeks away I'd like input on which tyre insurance people would recommend. I just spoke to my dealer who doesn't offer anything. Anyone got good experiences with another dealer or a third party???

We have the tyre insurance from Inchcape (Cooper parent company) on the 335 and have already made one claim for more money than the premium. I didn't take it up on the 120 (approved used also from Cooper) though as they wanted considerably more money than the 335, strange.

Regards

Chris
