Well, pulling fuse 26 does disable the transfer case servo motor = rwd.

What exactly else are you looking for a method to go rwd without the lights?

Maybe easier to dyno, can just do pulls on a rear-wheel dyno?

I'm curious too.. Like longterm. There's a video on YouTube where a dude lights em up with this method. The only problem whole concept is that this car supposedly needs an lsd bad which is an unlikely mod for an awd model.

Remove the front drive shAft. Like he stated. I've done so and have been driving 30thousand km no problems. Put it back on when you want awd. 8 bolts no fuss. No problems all the power is used in the back. End of threadd

Aren't the rear axles a little smaller in the X-drive VS non X-drive?

Thinking about doing this for the Spring/summer. Anyone tried it and had negative issues arise?

Lol well an e60 user on n54tech just grenaded his awd to rwd conversion. I'm sure it was unrelated.

Grenaded the engine to specify. I agree it is extremely unlikely that has any relation.

I removed the front drive shaft as well for about 3k miles a couple months ago then snow came around. 8 bolts like stated above and takes a few minutes, no codes, no problems.
