Interested in a road rally? (805_818_310)
I am willing to orgonize a road rally if people are interested.
All I want to know is how many of you would come. There would be enough planning and money going into this that an admission fee will be requiered. Nothing big, just around $10. There would be one prize and thats first place. Prize would be worth your while, like a gas card or if any of you have ideas throw them at me. I don't have a specific date. Never seen one on this forum so I'll explain. A road rally is a compition of a cource where fastest time is not the key but following the guidence map(and time) I will hand out. The cource will be chosen by me. Throughout the cource I will place checkpoints, where there will be people checking you in and out. When everybody goes through and finishes, your time will be added up to a total. When everybody has a total we will compare that time to the time on the guidence map. Who ever is closest to that time wins. To get all the times between checkpoints I will be driving the course before hand. I will follow the speed limit(maybe 5 above/below) so this will be fun for all people. I will be driving with a tracker on my car. The tracker will tell my distance, time, average speed, and top speed. Depending on how easy it seems I will give you time and the average speed. Any questions ask them. Any suggestions say it. remember this is just an idea. Last edited by flux; 09-22-2009 at 02:39 PM.. |

Yea but because it is BASED on time, you know there will definately be people who will be speeding I mean it's hard enough to keep under the limit while daily driving how much more willpower are you going to need not to gun it on a rally race?

They can speed and get in trouble but I'm not setting it up to have a fast time. I will setting it up so no matter the driver they will have fun with trying to get closest to my time. Who ever is closest wins...

Huge Tip: dont post the route before the event or there will be LEOs out in force after you guys.
Somehow on the day of Bimmerfest, there happens to be more than the average number of officers out.

I've done these before, and they're quite fun. There's no reason to speed unless you want to park and idle right before the finish line because "winning" is based on your proximity to a predetermined _average_ speed, not the highest speed.
I voted yes, but unfortunately my travel schedule keeps me out of town more than I'm in town, so I'm essentially a flaky "yes". |
