Don't ask me how I did it, however I managed to get myself a weekend test drive in an SLK300.

I've always quite liked the SLK and considered it when buying the BM however the BMW stole my heart!

Should be an interesting difference!

Sounds cool, I like the SLK55 AMG and have had the chance to ride in one, they're nice but I prefer our interiors.

I didn't know they did an SLK300, I thought it was SLK280 and SLK350, or did they add an SLK300 in the range aswell?

I'd love to try the AMG!! The 300 is the replacement to the 280. Technically the same engine however different map.

Picked the car up today and what a disappointment. The auto box is terrible. It's slow to change up and down and feels like a learner is at the controls!

The car is comfortable enough, seats are nice and and finish is to a high standard. The car also has the AMG body kit and looks great however for a car which they asked me to insure for £40k that would buy a great z4 which for my money is a better car.

It's a shame because it's a car you'd love to love, however it just doesn't have that something extra which the z4 has.

Ah, the AMG was nice, 3rd fastest car I've ever been in, It was loud and uncomfortable but that was expected, and yeah Mercedes Auto box's just aren't for me, in the quest to buy my 325i I test drove an E270 CDI Avantgarde Auto, and a 530d M Sport Manual, and I've got to say even in the E vs 5er battle, BMW's won by far, and the auto box is just dim witted and you never really get anywhere with it.

how do you guys get the dealers to lend you the car for a few days?

I'm trying to get a TTS for a few days as my brother wants to buy a brand new one and the stealers only want to give an hour max for a test drive!!!

Well after I had the usual 5 minute drive in a SLK 200 I told that a dealer in Glasgow had offered me a weekend test drive and suddenly they could offer the same in a 200 or a 300... seemed rude not to take the 300!!

Took it back this afternoon and got the usual "So, shall we get an order form?" to which I replied "No need... I think it will take a lot more then that to get me out of my BMW"

The auto box is the worst i've ever used, honestly I feel sorry for any 280/300 driver!!

TTRS comes with a price tag Carlos!!!...and can't afford it...even if I could, I wud go for the M3....value for money!!!....420 horses....and bigger rear seats....;-)

The TTS is great, sounds nice etc.. Not as quick as your 335i Kev.
