Do I have to buy run-flats?

I'm sure this has been asked before, so sue me.

But, when my tires wear out eventually, do I have to replace them with any special run-flats? Or will normal fitment tires work? Aside from the risk of being stranded, is there any reason I shouldn't purchase tires other than run-flats? Do run-flats have a performance advantage or disadvantage? I am sure they are more expensive?

you can buy whatever kind of tire that will fit your wheel.

Wow, you're right, these are basic questions.

1 - You can use RFT or non-RFT, your choice. But there's no spare tire (or place to put one) and no donut, so with non-RFT, you're using fix-a-flat or a tow truck when you get a flat.

2 - RFT are more expensive, heavier, and the sidewalls are MUCH harder, so the ride will be harsher, louder, and slightly less nimble than from a good non-RFT.

I think the RFT Potenzas are not bad at all, just heavy and expensive. The RFT Turanzas have a bad rep for uneven wear and noise. I use RFT for my summers and winters. I've stuck with RFTs because they work well and I'll pay a bit more and give up a bit in performance for the security of being able to drive on a punctured tire.

You don't have to put run-flats, I forgot that if your car is a lease (I don't know if your car is leased?) if you have to put run-flats on your car when you take it back to the dealership.

AND... I will see you in court as I am suing you on asking something that has been asked before lol jk

No, you don't have to buy run flats. But as mentioned above, you'll be on your own if you get a flat on the road.

i don't really understand why people think this so strongly. both of our e90's have the RFT's and haven't experienced a problem.

Run-flats are stupid and worthless. Here is a trick..

Drive your car around with run flats, right before they need changing, take them off and replace them with regular tires that dont cost to much. When the lease is ending the car must be brought back with run flats. So then re-install the run flats that you took off and bring the car to the dealer. You save and we party...

My friends and their parents have done this lol

ive actually had a tough time finding aftermarket run flats. been in the market for new rims and all the friends ive spoken with that do that kind of thing say theyre a hard find... any truth to this?
