im taking my car in for the rattle noise i belive its the wastegate, should i take all my aftermaket parts out for the inspection or take it just in. its not my fault the wastegate wasn't built right the first time so anything that i installed shouldn't be a factor but anyhow shoul i get it to stock?the noise is the same as in this video--does it qualify

i heard when they check for waste gate rattle (from my bmw tech) that they take the car out for a test drive, and start it up on cold start, and usually dont scan for codes. i could be wrong though. if your cool with your service advisor then leave them in, if not then start kissing there ass and buy them some wings or donuts next time you go in. LOL Good luck

it is true though that they can only deny a warranty claim if they can prove that your mods caused the issue. However, I'm sure they'll make note of any mods on there and I'd hate to see something come up in the future that they get a "get out of jail free" card for.
Put it back to stock as much as possible and you're best off. The JB4 I would probably just leave in. |

+1 its the luck of the draw unless its a part that needs BMWUSA approval to service, then you are screwed.
Two thing kept me out of DP's, warranty issues & yearly state emissions inspection. That being said I dynoed 375/414 on a Dynojet which it pretty good for a street car with occasional trips to the strip or track running a JB4-G5/ISO & a 5" FMIC. Truth is if I was looking for a strip or track car I would not have bought a BMW.
