I think that AC and electrical loads can affect this. With AC on it's traditionally higher, and I think I see a 100rpm increase with the AC on (I'll try to remember to look again).
AC off idle for my 328 seems to be about 600. For 60 seconds after start it's anywhere from 750-1000, often rough, occasionally shuttering, bouncing around a little. On one hand lots of people seem to say "they all do that", and my dad's brand new 535 does this. On the other, I'm still going to try to improve the cold start roughness and idle starting with new plugs. |

Yeah, I already have plugs but they're not in my hands yet. Coils are expensive enough that I'm not just going to blindly buy 6 new ones for giggles. I may buy one to use for troubleshooting along with my K+DCAN cable to see if there's any misfire shadow codes. The car runs really well so I don't feel the need to go overboard but 60k mi/100k km on the original plugs is enough for me to change them as normal maintenance.
