My German is a bit rusty, but it looks like all it does is eliminate the restrictions in coding to allow DVD-in-motion. So, you must have DVD play capability already which is only in European CCC systems (I'm not sure how it works in CIC systems).

If you're in Philly, you ask Perzan Auto Radio about this? I think they are bringing in some German gear of this type.

What is the difference between CCC and CIC? I have a european car and I doubt I can play DVDs in it, though I haven't tried because I use nav a lot

CIC is the next generation iDrive system that replaced the CCC system. CIC uses a harddrive for internal storage of maps freeing up the DVD Drive for other uses.

What model year is your e92?

05/08, CIC system which relies on the DVD drive for navigation.
