Would a bad transmission wire harness on a E90 cause it to go on limp mode?

My shot in the dark is that if you have a bad trans harness, it would throw up the gear icon on your dash and perhaps have issues with shifting, but doubt that's why your car is going in to limp mode.. I may be wrong, but I've had trans wiring issues in the past and none resulted in a limp mode situation..

I am showing the parking "P" on the dash then a second into when I start the car it goes away and then the gear sign shows up. I've able to drive the car, but is in third the whole way. I've replaced the oil and valve body gasket, but nothing changed.

Have you taken the shifter assembly apart and made sure none of the wires were disconnected? I'd start with the free diagnosis stuff first before you start throwing money in to it.. But here is a video, and this is exactly where I'd start..

Come to find out, yes 3 wires were disconnected. I am working on putting it back together now. I'll give you an update. Fingures crossed.

I corrected the wire issue, however am having the same issues.

Did you make sure to correct all of them..? I noticed right away I had one broken, but upon closer look I found a few others too.. Also, did you make sure to focus on not locking the trans in Park when putting it all back together..??

Furthermore, have you read the code it's throwing..??
