I don't konw why, but the upper window trim is more expensive on the E92. If you were to compare part for part on the chrome trim vs. shadowline, everything costs the same with the exception of the upper window trim. On the E92, the upper trim is $300 more expensive than the chrome. Every other part costs exactly the same.

If BMW doesn't lemon my car then I'd be happy to swap my shadowline trim for the bright trim. E90

Bright trim you mean chrome??? Although my chrome is looking a little weathered which is why I'm going to shadowline. It's only cloudy and I've been told thats not hard to fix, but I already got the black grills so the shadowline would complete the look.

Yep, by bright I meant chrome although it technically isn't "chrome."

Yeah that's why I was looking into this myself. I have 40% tint on my BSM e92 and recently switched to the oem performance grilles (gloss black) and painted my lower bumper mesh black to match. Especially if you have tint you might want to finish blacking out the other stuff first before you swap the window trim. I decided to leave mine chrome because now I think if I changed it my car would look TOO black. I'm not trying for murdered out - which is what I would've accidentally ended up with had I changed the trim first.

I wouldn't mind that... =P However I'm still rolling on OEM wheels so that wont happen for a while.

It depends on where BMW is with lemoning my car. It also depends on the condition of your trim as mine is pristine.

I should know more next week and we can talk offline

I'm considering new trim from Tischer to replace the chrome but it's not clear to me how the matte and gloss compare. What is your guys opinion between the two? I'm having a hard time tracking down decent images online to compare them.

The matte comes standard on a base 328 in the US. The gloss is the "shadowline" that comes with the sport package on newer E9x's

If you are doing matte black grills, go matte trim.

But the gloss trim looks MUCH nicer IMO.

I currently have mine vinyled, and I am going OEM. The vinyl looks good at a distance, but up close, less than perfect.

I would like to do OEM as well but not $900 worth. I'll put that money into the COBB

For anyone that' interested in the factory chrome upper trim that may want to paint it or wrap it, I have both sides for an E90 that I need to sell. It's straight and clean, just has oxidation/acid rain marks. PM me.

I just ordered the lower 4 pieces (E90) from Faulkner BMW Monday and received the pieces yesterday. Nice that PA is a one day shipping zone.

The MATTE BLACK pieces do NOT show up on the 335 in the system (only chrome and gloss black). You need to order them off the 328. Not sure why, but just a heads up for you E90 owners.

Faulkner's prices are cheaper than Tischer's and ship very quickly. Def check em out!

Saturday I swapped out the lower trim with Bavarian19 (thanks again AJ) and couldn't be happier. The front doors are definitely a PITA, but now having seen it done, I could definitely do it myself.

If anyone local wants to do it, PM me and I can help you out.

Also, I have the upper and lower chrome trim pieces if anyone is interested and picking them up cheap to wrap or paint. Let me know
