Boom's new ride

So I sold my e90, bought an A3 to lower the car payment, hated the fucking thing, took a bath on it, and picked up a new (to me) 335xi. It's loaded with premium, cold weather, and sport packages and has nav. It's literally stock and that's tough to find on a used one. NOTHING in the engine bay has been touched. I was shocked. Paid $27,980 for the car with 35K miles and couldn't be happier. Glad to be back!

Congrats! Good looking car! If you don't mind me asking, what dealer did you pick her up at? Any other good deals on the lot? I'm looking to get into a 335xi myself.

Congrats on the new car. I recently made the same move back into an N54 car again. Sparkling graphite is a very pretty color! That looks like Euromotorcars in Germantown, md. If it is, I'm in Rockville, md so you are local!

One thing, im pretty sure that m3 lip spoiler didn't come as an option on the car. Maybe the previous owner had the bmw dealership install it because they thought it looked better? There is also no 335xi badging on the trunk.

Thanks! I've been searching everywhere for about 6 weeks. There is an 08 335xi coupe black/saddle w/ prem, sport, and cw packages, no nav, at passport BMW in marlow heights. I love that dealer. The car has 48k miles and they want $27.9k. They were going to certify it for me for $2600. good luck.

Thanks! I noticed the debadging but not the spoiler. One thing I know is the engine hasn't been touched. I looked everywhere. The airbox hasn't even been disturbed.

It's good to be back.

Incidentally, while there I saw an 09 sl63 amg with some crazy matte cream paint job. It was gorgeous. It had 8k miles and they wanted $137k. It retailed for $175k so my loss on the audi pales in comparison to the $50k that owner suffered. Unbelievable.

To be honest, I was really surprised to see you in that A3. They are nice cars and I almost bought one, but I just didn't see you switching over to Audi.

Welcome back! And where is the sport steering wheel?

Congrats.

Out of curiosity, what about the A3 did you really not like?

Every time I've bought a BMW (5 times), I think "I should go check out the Audi as well." But then I go to the BMW store and never even look at the Audis. I know they aren't bad cars or anything, my gut just doesn't want to fix something that's not broken by buying an Audi.

Congrats on the pickup! I'm sorta regretting my 335i with the sports package right now. Damn winter.

I. Slow. Faster than most cars but not close to the n54

2. Noisy. I mean really noisy. Road noise, wind noise, and obtrusive engine noise. After a bimmer, the Audi is a rattle trap and just generally loud while driving.

3. Handling. It was boaty after my 3 series with sports package.

4. Shitty dealership. Seriously. You wouldn't expect that it would matter but it did. I hate Audi of Alexandria. They're annoyed that you're bothering them while their nickel and diming you mercilessly. Changed the tranny filter (they changed the oil and mechatronics unit under a recall) and it was over $250.

5. Stupid interior controls.

6. Fail wheel drive.

Not much good to say...

The only A3 I drove was a fully loaded 2009 Platinum sport edition or whatever. Thing was loaded to the gills with the 3.2L engine, Quattro and DSG, 19" wheels, awesome sport seats and fancy interior, Nav, the works. Probably a $50k car and they wanted $37k with only 15k miles. It drove so well, and the DSG shifted instantaneously, 100x faster than the Steptronic paddles.

Still don't regret getting my 335 over that though. I think you made the right choice to come back.

Welcome back. Dumped my A4 for my 2008 335xi a few years ago, and never looked back. Car looks great!
